Does an US immig officer telling the truth about approving ones AOS (marriage-based) interview was finished?

Another friend of mine was interviewed recently. they went to a very deep questioning and have been separated (from the very start the IO called their names) each time the IO have to question the other. after wards it seems they satisfied the officer. the IO walked w/ her (the applicant) on her way out and there, the IO mentioned to her that she will receive the card in about 6-8weeks.

Does it mean she was approved?

I have read forums on different websites and it got me confused w/ some situations.

Normally if you are told you will get your card in few weeks it means you are indeed approved.But remember that these Immigration Officers that conducts the interview doesn't have the final decision on the green card issuance.They have higher officers who does that. So it's not totally guaranteed of the approval. There are cases where they were told they will get the green card in the mail but instead got a letter that they need to do further verification and some would even be told to come back for second interview.

Since he said she will receive her card, it sounds as if she has been approved.

I had my AOS (adjustment of status) interview for a K1 marriage visa in san fransiscoon the 10th of feb, and received my greencard this week. I was told there and then i was approved and was given a letter to say i was and was told i would receive my card within 40 days.

Interviewer was weird, questions trying to catch me and my wife out, asking dates, had to take photos, recipets, proof of livng together etc
