okay, so Yahoo doens't like referalls but I answered this for another person who asked the same kind of question last week and yahoo didn't seem to mind for some reason. although i didn't end up using him, because of the complications of my husband's case i know people and have since met people who have, as far as affordability and sheer breadth of ability i would check out simon azar-farr in san antonio, tx (google him). he is very direct and up front about what the outlook is for you. his consultation was like 30 bucks when i went. i know he also does a lot of long distance work if you are not from around tx.

mainly you want someone who is board certified in immigration law as far as quality. and as for affordability, check into what part of town they are in. this guys office is extremely humble in a lower end part of San Antonio (thus passing on the savings in rent to his clients), i've noticed consultation fees go way up, for example in Austin, the closer you get to the UT or downtown high rent areas...
