Does anyone know what the chances are of me being granted an American Green Card (Im British)?

My Mum is married to an American and now fully has the right to live and work in the States. When I was younger I had the option to apply for a Green Card (?) when my Mum did hers, but I didnt want to as my application required me to visit America every so often and it would have interfered with my college studies.

Im currently training to become a counsellor, and after I finished like to live out in America for a bit. My Mum says as I am under 26 and not married I can apply, does anyone have furthur details? What are the chances of me being accepted? I dont have a degree but will have a professional counselling qualification, I have a strong history of work in the social care sector and have never been in any kind of trouble with the law.

If your parents are living in the US, they can sponsor you as an immigrant but the process can take up to 10 years. They can only sponsor you on a faster track if you are under 21.

Your degree is not one where it would help you get into the US faster under an employment based visa.

If your mother is a permanent resident of the US and you are not married, she can petition for you for immigration. Your degree and profession don't matter; what matters is your relationship. The process is long, but not especially difficult. Here it is:

And FYI, your immigrant visa category will be F2B, and right now the queue for this type of immigrant visa is about nine years long. If your mother becomes a US citizen, your category will be F1 and the wait is a little over seven years:

If your mom is a US citizen she can petition for you but the processing time is about 6.5 years(F-1 classification). If she is a permanent resident the processing time is about 8.5 years (F-2B classification).
You would most likely be accepted but it's a long wait.

I don't know why anyone would want to immigrate here with our current financial troubles, economy, corrupt politicians, moral breakdown of American society, etc.....good luck!

Try the forum on uk-yankee.com. There is a lot of info for Americans and Brits wanting to move to either place. My hubby is British and I am an American and the site has been a great help with visas and other info needed along the way.

its' all about money to them
