It is a well documented fact that there are approximately 12,000,000 illegal immigrants in the United States today. It is also well documented that their labor does not cover their social cost like medical and education for their children. We get cheap strawberries, but at what cost? Most don’t pay taxes because their employers pay them under the table to avoid problems with Immigrations.
Unfortunately, the people trying to do it right are turned down because the United States is already flooded with people that chose the illegal route and got away with it. Too bad isn't it? We can't let in the law abiding because of the law breakers—makes you wonder doesn’t it???
Having said all of that I still believe all people including illegal immigrants must be treated fairly and with respect. |

one basket ? there are illegal and legal , it couldn't be simpler . the problem is that they think it is automatic entry if you fill out some papers , it is a privelidge to come here and is not guaranteed , most immigrants consider themselves very lucky to be here |

1. We have limits. That means, 'this many and NO more.'
2. Poor people CAN'T pay enough to pay for their education. I have seen estimates that it costs $10,000 per student per year in K through 12, or $17,000 when new school construction is taken into account, to educate a child in California. You think they are paying for that? That is aside from health care, food stamps, subsidies for 'families with dependant children' etc. We limit how many poor can come for a reason. Their better life is at our expense, and particularly at the expense of our own children's upward mobility through quality education, and at the expense of health care for our own people.
Do some research. You may not like the facts, but they are what they are. |

The reason they get turned down is The United States of America has to look after The United States of America FIRST, then see what can be done to help individuals from another country. So many people act like the illegals have a right to come here. They do not. It is a privilege that may or may not be extended to them. I don't care about their tax ids or tax payments... THEY ARE ILLEGAL! |

Do you realize that many more people try to come here legally from other countries that also get turned down?
Do you realize that paying taxes doesn't give someone the right to break a law, especially when many millions of good people all over the world are following the rules and waiting until they can come legally?
It's easy to tell who is legal and who is not. Legal people are legal citizens, or legal residents. Once you separate out those people, you are left with illegal immigrants.
Allowing one crime just allows people to think they can break any other law as long as they don't get caught. Go to any neighborhood with illegal immigrants and see how many shopping carts you see - do you think the people bought those carts? They stole them from the Supermarket!! And one illegal immigrant ran into my brother in law's car last week - he wasn't insured of course. Another ran into the car of my LEGAL citizen Mexican friend and her family and killed her LEGAL citizen Mexican grandmother. People who are willing to break immigration laws are willing to break other laws and cause harm and death in other peoples' families. |

It's not that they get turned down for no reason, we have a quota system and we fill the quota every year. And I have no problem with them coming to work in our fields and do the jobs lazy Americans won't do. How many people on this site have ever applied to pick lettuce? |

There may be alot of legal immigrants, but there are far more illegel ones who really should not be here. I don't think that everyone should be departed, but the ones who are not trying to gain some type of citizenship really should go back home and try like the legal immigrants. You would get far more respect. |

yes; there are no real solutions that everyone would agree on , only that our resources are also limited and we don't have any real ways of solving everyones issues---the ones i know and know of personally are not bad people, just illegal-and they are wrong. how can you know who is legal or not????!!! |

If they're here illegally, and we let them stay, what does that say about our legal system? It would encourage others to come to the US illegally. It also isn't fair to all of the legal immigrants in the US.
We need to limit the # of immigrants we let into the US each year or we will face over population. In China, they are only able to have one child due to over population. Would you like the US to be in the same situation? |

There is a reason why the get turned down over population that is why they have laws to keep America from being overpopulated. Think about it if you allowed all the people who want to come to America in then we would have some serious overpopulation problems just because you want to be a citizen doesnt mean you should be able to. |

Have you met an illeagal immagrant who pays taxes? Because that would be a brilliant way to catch them. Illeagal immagrants cannot pay taxes as they don't have a SS# or a Work Visa Tax ID. A small amount of money returns to the US through sales tax when and if illeagals spend money here but I doubt that even those who found some way to pay taxes for their income are sending back the sales tax for the purchases their US dollars are making in Mexico
I want to accuse them of stealing our Tax Dollars because it bothers me when people steal things from me. You're right though, we need to be sure. Lets send all the illeagals home so we can be sure that the people who are working in the US aren't breaking the law. Because not breaking the law is cool |

The USCIS is very specific with their laws and regulations. ANYONE that gets turned down is due to a number of reasons, and its not race related, so please stop pulling that card.
Please do your homework b-4 making blanket statements. I work with the USCIS daily and its amazing to me that they get 1/2 of their work done, considering all the grief they get, not to mention how really overworked they are and unappreciated, oh lets not forget underpaid! They do the best they can and if they find any infraction you bet they will turn you down. They follow the law, unlike the illegals. |

There are also illegal ones who pay taxes. All they have to do is file taxes and get a tax id number. I know people who do that. But everyone cares about the mexicans who probably pay more taxes then the WHITE TRASH people who sit on their butts all day and don't pay nothing. Or the Russians who come here and get vouchers for cars and homes, and get all the help in the world. Oh and get food stamps but drive brand new SUV's. |

There's lots of people that are refused. We, as a nation, cannot take and accept every person that simply wants to come here. No country accepts every person that wants to live there. It would be a mass musical chairs of the majority of the people following the money trail. Draining it to ruin and then moving to the next. |

Our government would let in anyone who had a clean record. These people, which you probably know nothing about, just might have some sort of criminal record. Besides the fact, we have so many illegals and other people who are trying to get here legally - we can't take in everyone. Plain and simple. |

The government doesn't have to give a reason to turn down an immigration request - the applicant doesn't have a right to come here, only to apply.
Our government tries to balance the number of people immigrating against our infrastructure to ensure our services are not overwhelmed. They try to ensure that the people coming in will be useful to the country, by checking skills and background. And they try to ensure we are ethnically diverse, by setting quotas on different countries. Do you realize for example that most European countries are barred from the annual green card lottery because we have too many Caucasian immigrants? |

I see more Hispanics that are illegal than you can imagine.
I work for the DMV and they come in all the time to get ID cards.
Once they have those they can get free medical care and get on
DHS help, unfortunately they illegal ones make it harder for the legals ones to get what they need. We end up paying for the illegals to get that medical care and other help by OUR PAYING TAXES they do not pay taxes if they are illegal. I have seen so many fake documents and yes they are probably sold by lazy Americans who want to make a fast buck. If only one of theose illegals would come forward and tell what they know even if it meant being deported then we could put a stop to at least a portion of the illegals getting trhough. |

No, i DON'T care! If they are 'turned down', then there is a reason for that. What do you think would happen to this country if we let just anybody and everybody come here? There would soon cease to be an america as we know it! This is what is already happening with the illegals! They break all our laws,then think they are entitled to our benefits that ONLY belong to our legal citizens! And, WHY?
