Does termination of I-20 affect F-1 VISA?

I'm in F-1 VISA (valid till March 2010). Recently (last semester) I took a semester break and went overseas.I made a mistake coming back little early (I was suppose to come in April and attend summer classes but came here in March). After my advisor knew this, she terminated my I-20. I have maintained full-time status all the time and have GPA of 3.2. I want to continue my education. Can you guys please answer my following questions?
1. Does termination of I-20 affect F-1 VISA?
2. Do I need a travel VISA to travel Canada. What is better Flight or Drive?
3. What are my options at this point?

What I want to do is go back home, get a new I-20 from the same/different school and enter US with new SEVIS. Do I need to get a new F-1 VISA also? I'm afraid if they will not consider me a new VISA after being out of status.

1. Yes. Without valid I-20, your F1 visa is void.
2. Visa requirement of Canada is based on your citizenship of passport.
3. Get admitted either the same school or different school and apply new F1 again.

If the I-20 was terminated then the school notified SEVIS. Your F-1 is now worthless and you are an overstayer.

If you normally need a visa to travel to Canada then you need one now.

Your options are to get a new I-20, get back enrolled full time as an international student. Get back into SEVIS as being in compliance with your visa.
