how stupid!!!! the three little pigs is from our culture...so it should remain that way! |

Oh for goodness sake. Taking the story out is likely to cause more consternation and offense amongst muslims than any offense caused by leaving it in. PC such as this causes more harm than good. |

how fooking pathetic. My husband is a Muslim and he's not offended. |

Why would it?
As far as I know, muslims simply don't *eat* pork - it's not like they refuse to believe in pigs, or fail to acknowledge their existence in any other way.
How odd.
EDIT: Shadi - it's a children's story about three little pigs, whose houses get blown down by a big bad wolf. Except that of the last little pig, who built his from stone, and thus survived. I'm pretty sure it has *nothing whatsoever* to do with Islam or your Prophet. Calm down. |

Why does it offend?
Pig is an animal and they are usually very sweet.
I have friends living in England who are muslim and they are not offended at all. If there is someone who is offended by pigs he/she should go to see a doctor. |

not at all.i am a muslim as well. |

Once again it's a non-Muslim civil servant prats perception of what the former may consider offensive but rather than asking Muslims the idiots take action anyway and cause far more offence to indigenous British people instead.
I wonder how much Muslim culture has been suppressed in case it causes offence to us? |

no not at all. It is ridiculous. this type of thing has reared its head before. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2818809.stm
That was my litlle brothers school and the decision to ban the story is stupid. It is not offensive for muslims to 'talk' about pigs. I believe it is only the consumption of pork that is prohibitted, however i dont believe talking about them to be offensive. |

why should it?
its about pigs?
I don't get it.
it's a traditional english story.
they shouldn't change it at all.
grr. |

The BBC are always too PC about everything and actively look for trouble.
I'm Welsh and find sheep shagging jokes about us funny. It's high time people got on with living without preoccupation about perceived offence.
Must go now as it's getting dark and I want to grab a sheep before all the pretty ones are taken. |

I think the whole point here is not Muslims being offended.
It's the PC brigade who are always on the outlook for things THEY think offend Muslims.
By doing this they just inflame situations.
The BBC are probably the worst offenders in the Country they may think they are doing a good job but all they do is stir up trouble. |

The only offended are the PC people.
I have a muslim friend and she doesn't care about the pigs, my crucifix or rosary. |

To whoever asked this question: the article in the link you provided does not state that muslims are offended by the Three Little Pigs, in actual fact, it is the judges who declined to give the story an award because they thought - "the use of pigs raises cultural issues". They didnt blatantly say "oh it offends muslims". If anyone, the story offended the judges.
Youre an ignorant fool. A firestarter some might say. Next time you ask a question, read BEYOND the title of the evidence youre using to back up what you say. Thicko. |

I think all these questions which tries generalise the reaction of a particular race or religion is silly. Yes, there will be Muslims who will get offended, but I am sure there are plenty of Muslims who would not even give any thought to it.
I am not a muslim myself, but I am going out with a girl who is. To be honest, I could not think of a bigger racist then myself, but I have come to realise, you really cannot generalise a whole race or religion but rather you should treat them as individuals. |

Hardly.... It's idiots of the white Christian variety being idiots and banning everything that MIGHT offend. But they don't bother checking with the people they think might be offended, they just ban stuff.
Hey, but that's not something you want us to think about, is it, Mike? You'd prefer us to think it was all down to the Muslims, wouldn't you?
Oswald, mate, you're just making things up now. Or at the very least you're repeating stuff you've heard down the pub.
A Muslim would not storm into a church and ask 'who is this man Jesus?' Jesus is considered a prophet in Islam, so I'd strongly suspect that a practising Muslim would know who Jesus was, don't you? |

As Medium Dave said: Muslims do believe in pigs. Therefore a story about pigs has no reason to cause offence to them any more than any other religious group. If the story was about people eating pigs and calling people stupid for not eating pigs, that would be another matter. Although that'd be very silly as there was an article about processed pork increasing the risk of pancreatic cancer as well as other points already made (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4465871.stm).
As far as I can see, the story that's been rejected is one about cowboy-builder pigs. Also rejected because of alleged builder stereotyping (casting them as pigs). To that I say, maybe that's pig-stereotyping! (joke)
To anyone who posted comments about it being "your country" and sending Muslims home:
1. It is a religion, Muslims can be from any country (including England)
2. What makes it your country exactly?
3. Just because the media and government says it offends Muslims, it doesn't mean it does. Like someone else said, no-one thought to actually ask a Muslim or two. |

I dont care one hoot if it offends them . Its my country and if they dont like it they should go back to the pigsty they came from, its called their country origin. |

There are many Muslims who would actually take offence at the fact that the questioner should think that Muslims are so petty or ignorant. I agree. However there are Pakistanis who make a song and dance about a housewife displaying Ceramic Pigs on her window sill. In a Methodist West London church and during Service a Muslim entered and demanded to know " Who is this Man Jesus" (January 2008) He left when worshippers threatened to call the police. Then there is the big fuss kicked up when a BA female staff wore a neckless with the pendant being a little Cross. The school Teacher insisting on wearing a Hood in her class room as a sign of her Muslim Beliefs.Only recently there was the story of a young lady Poet (she called herself ) publishing terrorist Threats against Non Believers in justification of her beliefs. These are the types of people who actually are responsible for people believing that it is possible to give offence to Muslims on any silly little thing. Put up a Poster outside a Church saying " There Is No other God But Jesus " and see how long before it will give offence . Be realistic . They can be petty minded and go crazy. |

i think a lot of muslims pretend that they are not bothered but are secretly enjoying the steady erorion of civilisation freedom and democracy. dont trust them they want an islamic state and the brutality that comes with it. WAKE UP ! |

Yes it does, but Walt Disney and the UK are in negotiation as we speak. Disney is talking about pulling "Three Little Pigs", and replacing it with "Song Of The South". |

I dont know what it is about but Islamic culture and prophet Muhamad are serious things and not something to make immaginary story for kids ! Islam as every other religion must be respected and if you cant feel why they are offended then it is your problem ! And i am sure there are lot of stories to make for kids away from other religions !
Im talking in general as i have no clue what the story is about..
Dave as i said i was talking in general and i agree that the story has nothing to do with Islam |
