Doesn't everyone shouting against immigrants realize that their ancestors were immigrants too?

Racist liberals hate all immigrants. Bush and other Republicans realize that America was created and founded by immigrants, and immigration is what makes America strong.

I think most of the shouting is against illegal immigrants. I don't hear a lot of complains about legal immigrants, but the ones breaking the law are a different matter.

Yes, I absolutely realize that. The problem is, we have LAWS - laws that are not being abided by, the politicians are not allowing law enforcement to enforce the laws, not are they making the illegal immigrants abide by the law. I have no problem with immigrants, we are a melting pot, we all came here from somewhere else thru lineage, however, to come here today, you must follow the law. It would help if you would speak ENGLISH when you get here legally as well.

I do, I realize that my grandparents came over in the bottom of a boat....but I also know that they entered this country legally, learned English, became proud citizens and never ever ever flew anything BUT the Flag of the United States of America.

Yes, but my immigrant ancestors came over legally, and became citizens and worked, they didn't put a burden on the tax payers!

Before you ask a question, pay attention - the problem we U.S. citizens have is with ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. They break the law by coming here illegally, then work illegally, send their kids to our schools while us taxpayers foot the bill, commit crimes against citizens, go to emergency rooms without having any way to pay for their medical care, clog up our freeways, drive without auto insurance, ... I could go on, but I think I've made my point.

When they're yammering about immigrants, they really mean illegal immigrants. There's a world of difference. Very few of our ancestors entered the country illegally. Most ( mine included ) came through Ellis Island.
I don't understand how anyone can be in favor of those who are law breakers. If it's okay to break one law, then it should be okay to break others. If that happens, we don't have a nation, we have a lot of land and criminals,

There's no problem with immigrants. Immigration is a good thing if regulated. The problem is the unenforced laws against illegal immigration.

American Citizen hit the nail on the head - it's the ILLEGAL immigrants who are destructive and not constructive member so society. Look the prison population in the Southwest and Western states. It's no wonder their own country let them go. For those of you who rant about racism - YOU pay for the crimes these people committ, YOU paty for their healthy care, YOU pay for their welfare, YOU pay for their kids education.....not me. I don't know about your ancestors, but mine came over here and did it the right way. They went thru the process of becoming a citizen, worked hard and sent for their wives and children. I am not against immigrants. I'm against ILLEGAL immigrants who take advantage of the system. I pay taxes, I pay for medical...what do they pay for??? They go to our hospitals and are treated better than people with insurance. Somethings not right here. I worked with an illegal. He came here on a visa, then never went back to his country. He got a fake drivers license, made all his money under the table...had a better life than me. So that's the difference between my ancestors and the illegals

There is a HUGE difference between a legal immigrant and an illegal immigrant. People who are "shouting against immigrants" are discussing illegal immigrants. The vast majority of our ancestors (my parents included) are legal immigrants, who have a legal right to be in the country. Those who make the effort to become legal citizens deserve to stay in the country. Those who do not should not.

People aren't shouting against immigrants, they're shouting against ILLEGAL immigrants. Nobody cares if people enter this country legally.

I'm second generation Norwegian on my fathers side, so I am well aware that my ancestors were (are) immigrants. But they entered here legally, and became citizens after having done so. If people want to enter this country, then they can do the same.

In case you were not aware there is a very large difference between illegal immigrant and immigrants.

I hope you are not comparing my ancestors who entered this country with the blessings of our goverment to the illegal aliens perpetrating criminal acts on a daily basis inside the borders of the United States of America, because believe they share very little ( if anything at all) in common.
