Don't the people shouting "DEPORT ILLEGALS!" realize how much gray area is involved in immigration?

I agree with your point about simplistic thinking. Be it immigration or any other "Single Issue" problem, they come out in droves, and here is where I have my problem, either as sheep just following their leaders or as mobs, angry and ready to lynch someone even before they have examined the evidence.

But then again, they don't really seem interested in evidence anyway, do they?

What gray area ? You either entered the country legally or illegally.
You either complied with the terms of your VISA or you didn't. It's actually a very black and white issue.

As for the "anti-illegal" faction I guess I am one of them and BTW I have 2 degrees. The impact of illegal immigration on our society due to illegals it too great to ignore now. Check the facts for yourself, I'll list of few points for you here.

1. Identity theft, illegal immigrants often use false or stolen Social Security numbers numbers to gain employment (do you want an IRS audit ?).

2. Crime rate increases, statistics show marked increases in crime rates where ever we have illegals crossing and staying.

3. Diseases, in the last few years the US has seen increases in drug resistant TB, and other infectious/contagious diseases directly related to the invasion.

4. Hospital Emergency Rooms closing due to being overwhelmed by those who can't/won't pay.

5. School over crowding due massive numbers of illegal immigrants.

6. In Fiscal Year 2005 Los Angeles County spent over $750 Million taxpayer dollars to provide services just for undocumented/illegal immigrants.

7. In California alone over 10% of the prison population are people here in the country illegally.

8. Wages driven down in every area where illegals are put to work.

All of these are rational documented issues and not the ranting of someone who hasn't done the research.

There is no grey area when discussing illegal aliens. YouÂ´re either illegal or youÂ´re not, you canÂ´t be "sort of illegal" or "almost legal".

As for my educational background, I have a batcherlorÂ´s degree, IÂ´ve travelled extensively, my dad is a LEGAL Mexican living in the US (who happens to be an ANTI-illegal) and my husband is Mexican, therefore you canÂ´t play the "racist" card with me.

No they think that it is an easy matter meanwhile deporting all of them or stopping them from coming in would cripple our economy. Restaurants, landscaping, farming, construction ... all need cheap labor to maintain profits in our economy, Illegal immigrants are not taking our jobs they are taking the jobs that Americans do not want to perform. America's system is messed up with its need for cheap labor but not supporting such labor when they arrive and getting upset that they exist meanwhile they are a necessary evil unless you want to pay more for goods.

Grey area? Nope, no grey area ... the immigration laws actually ARE crystal clear on this one, which you would find out if you went through them ... inability to form form complex rational thought seems to reflect more on those who pose uninformed questions, rather than those who give rational informed answers ...

Really? I thought all immigrants without documentation were illegal? The only loophole is that when a child is born in the U.S. it has citizenship. So, other than documentation and/or a birth certificate, what's the gray area?

Where's the grey? No legal documentation, ILLEGAL! Plenty on letter holders feel exactly the same way. We see the problem, and the effect it will have on our pocket books and economy.

Why should there be any grey areas? If I was in power there certainly wouldn't be. I'd kick the lot of them out and bring back the death penalty for those that dared to come back.

The main concern is that they are illegal. That means breaking the law. It doesnt take a genius to know thats wrong. Laws are here to protect Americans, and the illegals are going against the laws of our country. I think most people have no problem with immigrants, only immigrants who break the law.

Don't be silly. If they snuck across the border, they are illegal. If their visa was good for a certain time or purpose and they are outside of that time or purpose, they are illegal.

If there is any gray area, there would need to be determinations of applicability, but they do that all the time on visas.

P.S. I didn't drop out of high school... honest.

Every issue is shrouded with shades of gray. I think it's the laziness in people that make them want everything to be a matter of black and white, right or wrong, this or that. It's sad really.

they r simply incapable of understanding the laws or processes of immigration. they never acquired those skills especially if they r high school drop outs LOL! most of the text on here from these extremists is just a form of their ignorance & yes they r raving-insanely. they choose what they want to understand & r ignorant of what they should comprehend. but that's what u get when we still have ppl in the US that can justify the War in IRAQ & other major economical/social issues in the US. they actually amuse me most of the time!!!

Typically, no, and it is very disturbing. They have no understanding of immigration policy; they simlply think that "illegal means illegal" --to use one of their phrases. Well, newsflash, federal immigration policy is A LOT more complicated than that

This is not the first time this issue has come up; it is next to impossible to get the anti side to comprehend the complexities of the immigration laws of the USA in terms of no amnesty.

My family has "imported" laborers (agricultural) through the system of the Labor Department and we can attest to the complexities of the laws in place.

Alternatively, while it's true if they enter illegally, by definition, legal is legal, most of us who post here are not in denial of that, but rather speak to the deportation complexities under the no amnesty resolution. The 'fallout' may be worse = GRAY.

...and you know the rest of the story....lol
