No they don't get it....Seems they want a country that is all white and immigrant free. Its a bit hypocritical since most came here as immigrants through ancestry.

Latinos are fast becoming a majority and I think that is what really scares them. They fear change....

I agree with you, another thing they don't get is that they're all so happy that there have been few deportations, but what they don't realize is that it's NOT EVEN making a dent and those who do get deported,,, 60 or 70 percent of them will be back within one week. No one is leaving THIS COUNTRY. WATCH AND SEE.

Bunt, I get it, and I love it. I love America and I can't help but to be anxious about my country's future. These people really are missing the point (as I try to explain through my questions). Immigrants are one of the most important pieces to a very puzzled future. Without them the puzzle of America's upcoming economy won't be complete, and the last needed piece - migrant workers - will be lost forever.

Within 20 years, if things don't change, migrant workers won't want to be here, and none will be coming of their own free will. Mexico's growing economic AND POLITICAL alliance with China WILL pay off (see my questions). China is embracing Mexico, and is wooing all of Latin America to join its FASTEST GROWING super economy. For the coming century they'll create a production base that will enable them to produce almost EVERYTHING for less than we can in America, and yet THEY will continue to become the most affluent economy. And if they have their way they will become the world's most massive superpower, with interests and presence on our doorstep.

At the same time, Generation X and younger will be taking care of geriatric baby-boomers themselves. The babyboomers will NOT let go of their political might, and therefore WILL ensure that the tax rates stay in line with their needs. Do you want to pay 85% income taxes? You will. But it won't be because of illegal immigrants. It will be because of our own people. And about the time income taxes rise that high, there won't be a migrant Latino on the planet who'll be stupid enough to live and work here.

Listen, America never has been, nor ever will be "grateful" for the many things non-resident and alien Latinos have done for the country I love. We're bad neighbors, have engaged in and have won a century-long agricultural war with them, hate their children who come here to survive and thrive, and refuse to find a way to welcome and integrate them. We're terrified of everything. And in the end we will be left alone and hated. It's coming. We'll all see it if we're still around 20 years from now.

If you're an American, and you don't think this is possible, look at the facts rather than your pride. Look at our population trends. Look beyond your borders and open your eyes to the massive political/economic events that are taking place. The Chinese are working aggressively and rapidly to shift the world to its favor via a multi-decade-long agenda. We can't even plan beyond the next four-year presidency.

We need to stop fighting. We need to stop hating immigrants (whose economic contribution could literally save us from the coming tax hikes to take care of our elderly if we would only find a way to determine who they are and legalize them). We need to embrace and invest in Mexico and all of Latin America (perhaps paid for, in part, by the super-jump in tax revenue generated by legalizing illegal aliens), helping them to become powerful in ways that BENEFIT us, rather than allow them to join a super-economy that will contribute to our plunge into 3rd-world economic status.

Yeah, Bunt, I get it. I love it. It's my hope and my prayer that somehow America can see beyond fear and racism soon enough to get it. We need Mexico. We need Central and South America. And we need their migrant workers who are here, and those who will yet come.

I agree that (illegal) immigrants are not leaving. However, I have been helping an older man in my workplace in his efforts to bring his children to this country from India, as legal immigrants. He has jumped through all the red-tape hoops, worked very hard, saved as much money as he can possibly save, and now is just waiting, hoping that visas will be issued. It's been 6 years since he started the process.

I don't have a problem with immigration, but I will fight tooth and nail any legislation that effectively puts illegal immigrants in front of those like my co-worker, and friend, who is going through the process as the laws of this country require.

Your question intimates a belief that illegal immigrants, having made it into the country and gotten jobs, are entitled to citizenship. It doesn't, any more than I am entitled to go work and live in France, something I have always wanted to do. I can do it illegally, at least for a time, but if I want it badly enough to make it permanent, I will have to apply to the French government. If they say no, because I initially chose an illegal path to make my dream come true, I have no one but myself to blame.

If your argument is that the sheer number of illegal immigrants makes a difference, it's not a valid argument. A country of 300,000,000, the US isn't going to fall apart without their labor. Change, yes.

It's not that people, like me, don't understand that illegal immigrants are seeking a better life, or fleeing hardship that we ourselves don't have to face. It would be nice if the world was big enough that every poor country's peoples could go to a new land and start afresh, as my American immigrant ancestors did. But that's not the world we live in. And every country which has laws governing immigration (and every single one of them has them) has the right to expect its laws to be upheld, right from the start, by the people who want to live there.

The USA has been through its own civil war and civil uprisings, which have made it into the wealthy country it is today. Other countries have done the same, though the process may have taken centuries. I'm not saying, stay home and don't emigrate (legally, of course), if that's what you want to do. But, at least give some thought to what might happen if everyone trying to leave a bad situation stayed and put their hard work and energy into making their homeland a better place.

bunt what other country on earth was not founded by immigrants at one time or another.Back in 1980 this same thing happen just grant citizenship all will be well. I personally don't have a problem with people coming here to make a life we all deserve that but the problem i have is why cant the do it legally? Don't say you cant cause I've seen people go through the motions to do it right so that 1. they don't put their families in jeopardy nor fear losing someone they love because they didn't take the time to get their papers. The system was put there not only to protect you and me but to protect the ones who will get hurt by this.
I would expect the same policy to be in effect if I went to another country that i am not a legal citizen of oops its already in place.

You don't get it---more and more are being deported back-rather you like it or not. It is happening -90% of the people say that is the way it is going to be. And action is being taken. More and more towns are making sure laws will prevent them from coming. Look on web for a change and see-it is happening.

Laws will be obeyed. If you want to stay-your going to have to do it the right way -period. No mater how hard you think it is. Order has a purpose.

As for the cost of deportation...all we have to do is stop sending billions of dollars to Mexico every year in aid and we will have more than enough money to finance the deportation of illegals.

I am sad that illegals are going to put their innocent children through grief and pain because OF THEIR IRRESPONSIBLE ACTIONS.
