I am all for not prosecuting them if they agree to forfeit all rights to social security and medicare and agree to retire in their home country. As to granting them citizenship, I am all for it if they go to the very end of the line, and wait until absolutely all of the legal immigrants currently awaiting citizenship become full US citizens.

why dont we just let everyone who ever committed a crime go and not punish them. if they would just come here legally they would save us and them alot of unneeded stress and wasted time. sure america is a melting pot thats how everyone came here by immigrating for a better life but we did it LEGALLY, we abide by the laws that are set, who says that they wont break other serious laws when they come into this country, in my eyes illegal immigrants are already criminals, and they need to be punished. i think a way to solve this problem is to abolish the law that make a person born in this country an American citizen, if the parents come here illegally that waives their children's American citizenship upon birth, but if there parents are already a legal law abiding citizen their children will still be american citizens upon birth.

Not really, i have known many who take advantage of the system, get welfare and still live with their husbands and work under differant names and draw unemployment under other names.Most have figured out how to work the system and not pay taxes but get money back. I know some are really good people but no not all of the illegal aliens need to be pardoned and given stature here for free.The borders should have been closed 20 years ago and go back to the la migra!!Who are now not doing their jobs. If you stop all the free stuff ,hospital care and free food stamps, education ect. and not allow them to bring all the family here too, maybe they wouldn't come here as now.The true immigrants who came under the amnesty programs should stay and work to get their citizenship like everyone else who has come in the past. I was born here and remember what it was like[safe ] before all the problems due to aliens

I say start a guest worker program but put a special tax on there checks for working in America and put that money in the social security fund before it runs out.

Illegal aliens do not have college degree, not even high school diploma (they may have graduated hs in their native country, but that do not count as a high school diploma). Their low income lead to a very small amount of tax to be paid. On top of that, once they go into (frictional or structural) unemployment, basically all their tax will be given back to them.
On the other hand, if we were to have a good progressive tax system then the tax problem wouldn't be as bad as a burden that it is right now..

Illegal immigrants shouldn't even be here in the first place. They should pay their fine first before they could be considered for citizenship. But then again, the U.S. gov't don't like to grant citizenship to criminal. It make perfect sense, no nation would want a criminal to become your citizen.

Nope,If Mc Cain gets elected you might get to see just that,then a new massive influx of new illegals will follow.Since most of the illegals here are sending thier money back to Mexico or where ever they originally are from,and are only here for about 5 years or so until they have the money to purchase the land or whatever it is back home,they will not be contributing a thing to the tax base.

No he shouldn't, nor should anyone running for the presidency want to allow illegal immigrants to stay. Illegal immigration is already costing this country BILLIONS of dollars annually and the number will continue to grow until the issue is resolved.
It also sets a precedence that no one needs. I mean think about it. all the illegal immigrants are pardoned whats next? Guess we can start with the Tax evaders they aren't really criminals anyway, maybe the insider traders, how bout rapist I mean all these criminal can't be all that bad right. Don't pardon a damn thing, round them up and set them back across the border with the clothes on their backs because all the money the earned while in the United States that wasn't used to keep them here went across the border already.

Absolutely not. The problem with that is, there are so many here. Increasing the tax base is a great idea, but how many of them would take the steps necessary to start being taxed on their wages. It is easier for employers to continue to pay them cash under the table.

No, not at all.
Every situation is a special one but to be honest it's a huge problem. There are too many illegal immigrants who we can't keep track of (in terms of crime, taxes, legal issues, etc) and they just keep procreating and taking advantage of our system. This can't continue and there's no reason for Bush to do this.
