My main concern is the serious problem we have with our education system and the amount of illiterate people it seems to be churning out. |

no i believe it has a bigger problem with education, you re spelling being a prime example |

We do have quite a terrible problem of our natives having poor spelling and grammar. The immigrants seem to have a better grasp of our language than some. |

I think it has more of a problem with levels of literacy and spelling. |

No, England has a very serious problem with an uneducated population, who if they're not careful will find themselves pushed out by the better educated immigrants who have a better work ethic.
Really, just look at your spelling. Sorry, but you should look to yourself before you start pointing fingers at others. |

the education system has clearly failed you. i know a lot of immigrants who speak (and spell) the queen's english excellently. go away and get an education instead of wasting your time here. |

No it has a serious problem with idiots whining on about "deez ear imagants, wot come over ear and dont even bovver a learn emselves da langage"
Every couple of decades there is a wave of immigration followed by an uproar about how this one is worse than the others and how it is going to destroy the country. Every single time, the xenophobic doom-mongers have been wrong. Why is this wave any different?
By the way, as an EU citizen there is nothing to stop you moving to another EU country. Hint hint! |

Yes -
But the issue needs a serious solution from intelligent people to be able to fix it. |

Now I know why you're the poster boy for immigration.
A TROLL is someone asking a rhetorical question because they demonstrate the example of what they profess to be against. |

You should learn how to spell...
anyway about your question....immigration is a good way to make the U.K rich...just like in the U.S.A where sometimes the goverment lets mexicans go through the border so that they can work in farms for cheap money so that the goverment makes good profit out of them...so i recomend you to take some english lessons and some political lessons aswell, and that goes for every single person that keeps complaining about immigration...btw I am spanish...you dont see me complaining about english people coming to my country do you??? |

This country was based on conquest and immigration. 1066 invasion, Irish navies immigration. Most people who complain about immigration are band waggoners who cannot think for themselves. I am white, middle class and educated and work in manufacturing and i have to use skilled migrant workers or the company i work for would close due to lack of skills - the problem is not immigration but the control of who immigrates and what they are entitled to whilst here - Skills are needed but skivers are not
ps **use your spell check** |

With all the problems that this country faces, why do the hordes of spell check addicts see spelling as a major problem among people who are only asking to take part in an adult pursuit of voicing a democratic opinion.
Everyone should be welcome on this site without being fearful of nerds who,in reality, have nothing constructive to offer anyone else and would rather embarrass folk who are not as well educated as themselves. Have they ever considered the fact that some people could be suffering from dyslexia? Please think twice about rapping knuckles because,in a situation like this, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves. |

Some of you are quick to point out the failures others make with spelling and grammer errors.Which is a uncalled for attitude and shows the ignorance within you.Now to the question Yes, their is serious problems and top marks to the Archbishop highliting the biggest one.Of course he could have chosen his words better, but he did say the inevitable and unavoidable. The only person to stand up warn of the future we face, not necesarily his own choice the Unavoidable..do you get the drift. The media are having a field day with this one and some of the Politicians and whipping up frenzy as a result. It is right that people who condem him get to see the transcript of the speech to the letter. |

Firstly, poor spelling and grammar gets right up my nose, I quite literally have to stop myself from commenting on the poor standards of both found on YA. Though not infallible, I have no need of the spellcheck facility. However, surely even badly spelt or composed Qs are worthy of an A? Whilst abhorring the ideaology of the BNP, surely it's supporters are entitled to pose Qs, assuming that the person asking the Q is a supporter? We do still have free speech to a degree, and assuming no one person or race is being singled out, the Q is a valid one.
Or is it simply that long standing members of YA know the agenda some are working to? Is that what a "troll" means? Would be interesting to know, as a fairly new user I have yet to work this out. lol
To return to the Q, I do believe we have an immigration problem, purely in terms of numbers. Drastic measures are not needed, simply applying common sense will suffice. |

Absolutely not.
What's a few terrorist cells and bombings amongst "friends".
The call for the introduction of some parts of sharia law is nothing more than the next natural step towards a multicultural nation - ask any liberal troll. |

I fully agree! Some drastic measure do need to taken and that will come about when the economy of the country fails to support it!Yes!Measures need to be taken now!But while you have 'Dreamers'like The Archbishop of Canterbury and Gordon Brown nothing will be done. |

In my opinion? Britain may appear to have a serious immgration problem, but I do believe it is wanted by our governments.
My own experience with the immigration authorities when trying to bring my (ex) wife into the country were very revealing.
Also having travelled to other eu countries I can see that the UK could use the methods adopted by other countries to control things.
Look, a person arrives from a country which requires him/her to have a visa. This person immediately claims assylum. Forms are filled in, an interview is given. It may be clear from that very first interview that our assylum seaker has no chance, yet he/she is permitted entry for further investigation.
The years go by and eventually he/she is given an interview.
If refused, they can appeal. There is procedure that could allow that person to remain for a long time. It's all bs. Just BS. |
