Dual Citizenship USA and Germany?

My father came to America when he was nine years old and gained his United States citizenship when he turned 18.
I was born in America, but one of my father's friends said his dad was a german citizen at one time, and now he (the son,my dad's friend) has German-USA Dual Citizenship through some type of little law.
Has anyone ever heard of something like this, as I would be genuinely interested in finding some way to do both. Thanks!

That's not right.
Germany does not allow dual citizenship.
I know a German, that will not become an American, even though they are married to an American because they would have to renounce their German citizenship.
Now, any person that can prove they are of German descent can become a German citizen. Your father's friend could switch back to being a German citizen, if he has enough money and time to waste. |

YES, cause your dad is still a german citizen, doesn't mean he lost citizenship by US naturalization. You are also a german citizen cause you have a parent who has german citizenship and germany allows citizenship to a person born to German parents even if they acquire another citizenship of another country at birth.
To get it? get ur dads german birth certfiicate, also his german passport and all that stuff drom when he was 9. Go to the nearest german embassy, they'll give u ur citizenship, passport etc.
phone them before u go, so u know exactly what documents they need.
enjoy! u will be a citizen of the european union, since germany is a member, u can study for free, work, live in member states like the UK etc

EDIT: hey u dum idiots, germany doesnt allow dual citizenship in cases of naturalization BUT, if you are born to a german parent abroad, they allow u to take german citizenship aswell as the one of your brith
