EAD - GC Interview - I551 stamp? How to work?

I am married to a US Citizen and possess temporary 1-year EAD. I have the GC interview in a couple of days.
1) Will they take away my EAD?
2) If so, what do I do to be able to WORK until the GC arrives in the mail (could be 5 days, could be 3 months)?
3) Do they give something temporary to carry, perhaps a temporary receipt, in place of EAD?
4) I heard they no longer stamp I-551 on the foreign passport, is that true?

Additional Details
It so happens that I get interviewed one day, and 2 days right after, I start working at this new firm, who have already asked me to bring along the I-9 list A or B&C original documentation to prove work eligibility. Which means, I certainly cannot wait for GC. A photocopy of EAD wouldn't work. Also, if the immigration personnel do not give me anything as a take-home, e.g., a welcome notice of some kind; I will potentially lose the offer for sure.

1. Yes, they normally get your EAD as the green card replaces already your EAD
2. You will more likely receive your GC after 2 weeks upon approval. If you are currently working you can inform your employer that you got approved in your GC and just waiting for the card itself in the mail.It might be wise to get a photocopy of your EAD before your interview for your file in case you will need it.
3. No, they don't give temporary receipt for your EAD but they will give you a Welcome Notice as a resident.
4. They don't normally stamp I-551 anymore but you can ask for it if you have an emergency overseas and couldn't wait for the green card to arrive. |
