I worked for a UK company that was looking to export to the USA. They sent me out to Chicago, and then sponsored me for a visa here. I was going to get my green card through my work. But before that happened I met my husband, we got married and he sponsored me for my greencard. If you want to come to the USA you either need to come as a student, employee, or fiancee. Those are really you only options.

My ex-bf was transferred from the UK to the US by his employer, HSBC, who took care of his visa for him. He's now a US citizen. Another friend transferred over with the BBC, and just got her green card

you dont need to have a greencard to live the USA, as a valid visa can be juts as good (you need to apply, greencard is one off).
