Everyone wants to move to the U S, am I the only one that wants to get out?

I have traveled to countries like Peru and Argentina and the lifestyle is more healthy and people are more happy

I don't know when it happened but over the years this country has become sick, I mean the people of the United states are sick,, mentally and spiritually, so it might be easier to make a few bucks here, what do you get with the money, maybe a nice house with a bunch of stuff you don't need and with a ton af garbage to the to throw away every week, everytime I come home afetr being on buisness somewhere I get smacked in the face with how cray and sad our society has become, can anyone else realte to this, it is hard for me to put into words

I think American people are good and hard working but I just think the enviroment has become jaded and twisted, it seems to get worse and worse

I am Peruvian now living in the United States. While i agree with you that life in Peru ( never been to any other country) is much much simpler and people are happy with what little they have (unlike here), finding jobs is really hard, very competitive, and you cant really choose any career you want ( you can but you have to check how its doing in the job market).

thats why people want to move to the US, more opportunity.

Yo it's Me
As far as I can tell, nobody is barring the exit door.

I'm sure there are a handful of you out there. Guess what? The wonderful thing about America is that no one will try to keep you here. You can apply to immigration in any other country and if they will take you, you can be on your way.

OR you can just complain and cry with no actual intention of going anywhere, because you KNOW that you couldn't stand it elsewhere no matter what you say and you are just full of hot air -- like Alec Baldwin.

Good luck and God speed, whichever type you are.

I do understand what you mean. I was born and raised in America but I have lived all over the world because my dad is in the air force. When I lived in the Azores Islands of Portugal, I could not believe the difference between there and America. In the Azores, everything was quiet and everyone was so laid back. There were no malls, huge shopping centers, skyscraping cities, traffic, etc. Walking and donkies were the main mode of transportation. People bought their food fresh at the market and got their household items from those who specifically made those items.... there was a bread lady, a basket man, a seamstress, etc. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The Azoreans were not concerned with money, houses, and material things. Everytime I would come back to America, I would have culture shock from all of the noise, traffic, go-go-go attitude and impatience. Even visiting Italy and Australia.. there is such a different pace of life and is much less stressful than here at home. I love the European way of life... they work to live rather than live to work like we do here. But, living overseas I did miss the many things I'm so used to here such as movie theaters, grocery stores, walmart, etc... I love America and feel blessed to have been able to experience many of the other countries of the world.

I agree with much of what you say.
The solution is to accept that you will feel a certain amount of alienation if you try to buck the system. Better to feel a bit alienated though than to accept all the junk thrown at us daily from the media and the government.
It's good that you are questioning your life and I hope you find good answers and have some happiness in this life.

At the present , there are some thousands of American citizens living abroad.

Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama are some destinations.

America is the land of Dreams to the improvished... A few more bucks may mean nothing to the privlaged people born and naturalized here.. but for some one who is from a third world country-- It is a privalge to be in the USA.... So If you leave may be you should open a spot for some one who will cherish this nation and give it their all to make it even better then it already is

Britney
i coulnd't agree more. America in my eyes is a falling power and is becoming exactly what our forefathers did NOT want. This place makes me sick. the people are disgusting and the only important thing in america is money. I too have traveled and i see so many countries that are beautiful and everyone seems so friendly. I would not mind living in a different country

A blank!
Take me with you!

I've been to Peru too!!! It's wonderful, especially Machu Picchu! Beautiful country, unfortunately poor.

I've been to other countries as well (Venezuela, Italy, Mexico, Germany) and you are absolutely right.

Even though the quality of life is not as good in the US (materialistic speaking) people there seem to be happier...it's just unbelievable that with all the limitations they have they can enjoy life better.

I think the US used to be like that long time ago, at least for my grandma's stories I can tell it was. I'm afraid we don't have a way out of this hunger of money and power :(

When I retire I want to go to the Caribbean and have a nice house on the beach down there, unless we take back the values under this nation was set.

Perception is always the truth for an individual, so maybe it's time for you to go and give it a try. But remember this, traveling in another country and actually living in that country are very, very, different. Me, I've lived in another country, and have come back because I realize the USA is a very good place to live. Much better than where I was.

There's no such thing as a perfect country unfortunately, and wherever you go there will be challenges...but it sounds like New Zealand would be a place you would enjoy moving to, as they are into lifestyle, health and people!

I feel your pain, certainly. I was born in Cuba...and don't get me wrong... I love the fact that we came to this country because I have seen and learned things that I probably wouldn't have if I had stayed in Cuba, but still I know what you mean...I lived in Chile for almost two years and everything was more laid back there, I guess here many issues are coming up now, the Iraq War has messed up the country and like you said, we live in constant stress about bills money, taxes...it's really a lot. I'm not saying I would like to leave the States, cause honestly I rather be here than in Cuba but I do sympathize with you.

You have to take the good with the bad, sure we have some in society that may be selfish and spiritually void, but that's the price you pay for having a democratic and free country. I get frustrated sometimes by what we as a country are doing, but the beauty of this country is that I can help change that.

All I can say is, maybe you're living in the wrong part of the US. If you live on the east or west coasts, then I can see why you're so dis-illusioned. You need to come to the smaller towns in the Midwest. I never lock the door on the house, often times leave the keys in the car at the store, never take them out at home, etc. Sure, we have out bad eggs just like everywhere, but it's not the cut throat lifestyle like on either side of the country. I've traveled all over this country and take my word for it, country people in the Midwest still know what manners are unlike the Northeast (Boston, NY, etc).

As far as spirtually, in this town of 13,700 people, at last count there were 19 churches, not including the ones in the country. If you want to experience the simple life, there's plenty of Amish communities where you can find more non-materialistic living than you can stand. You'd be surprised how many non-Amish there are who don't have TV's...not because they can't afford them, but because they don't like the intrusion. There is an extremely large number of people who are volunteer fireman...no pay and no glory but they get satisfaction from doing a community service. Two years ago a tornado grazed my farm and killed four people, two right next door. Local construction firms came in to clear debris at their own expense. Christian groups came in and with the help of local school officials, provided meals at the school for those without electricity (like me) or the more unfortunate that didn't have homes left. The school excused our kids from class for a couple of days to help clean up debris, teaching them a very valuable lesson.

You might want to look around this country and meet people who have goals that are other than fame, power and fortune before you "Throw the baby out with the bathwater".

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! I'm sick of horrible taxes, budget cuts, and the fact that kids like me and their families have to suffer with corruption and bribes. If a republican gets elected, then we are most likely gonna run like hell.

I dream of leaving but it's too expensive and not so easy to do. I'd love to go to a nice European city without all the bs!

I know nearly 100% of the people in this Country is going to disagree with this but hey I'm not on Yahoo for votes or numbers those things are not important to me. But I believe in a World where people should be able to come and go as they please not being tied to some Rope or Mother may I. I guess this whole World got the wrong ideal of what Freedom really means. Free means Free no matter now you cut it. How can anyone in their right mind think that life is better in America when your life is on a rope that is tied to your Government's hand. If I'm dating someone from another Country the Government should not have any say so of if the person I Love can come into this Country or not. It is good to know that Governments in other parts of the World don't think like the American Government. Many people like myself want to get out and enjoy other parts of the World and I'm sure they are like myself would like to do this without anything holding them back or making it hard on them. I have heard many people say from other Countries like Germany that it is easier for me to come to their Country than it is for them to come to the U.S. I think this should tell many people something in this Country. But we live in a World where everyone want to control someone and boss someone to the people of America is really living their life like this and shouldn't. Author, Eddie Smith.

Than don't let us stop you go ahead and move.... And good luck on you adventure....

mr sgt
you could go move to buenes aires.
i saw the movie starship trooper, and all the white american kids were from buenes aires.
so, maybe someday your grandkids could get on a spaceship and fight bugs in english.

you just want to get out because too many have come in and messed up the place.

i'm pretty sure you can easily walk into mehico, then life would be simple. you could hit pinatas and play with a ball in a cup.

Yea i feel for ya, in fact i'm saving up a friend and i are going to china to a buddhist monastery or something like that...point is i have been to peru a couple times. i love it, especially the jungle. ecuador is a very sweet place to be as well, and the health benefits from three months of volunteering in the rainforest can't be described in words. so no, you aren't the only one who wants to leave this corrupted government. but i also want to fix it. oh mann i feel we're so screwed sometimes...

tom_gpp
Hmmmmm, BYE!

Maritz R
Thank you! No you're not the only one who wants to get out, Im leaving in a few months actually because of what you said, yeah you may be able to have nice things here but it is nothing compared to what one may lack here.
