Explain "populate or perish"- planned immigration' AND reasons for post WW2 immigration to Australia?

We live in a consumerism oriented economy. What that means is that most of the growth is fueled through consumers buying stuff.

Populate or perish is a unsustainable idea created by people who make money or gain power via the artificially inflated rate of population growth. Think about it like this - We have two countries that are essentially the same EXCEPT for their positions on immigration.

Country A has 50 million people who have no immigration and a stable population also have little or no economic growth.

Country B has a 50 million population, very rapid immigration numbers that add 5 million a year to their booming economic consumer growth.

Pluses for country A
Fewer worries about natural resources
No infrastructure problems
No worries when they reach saturation point
Less crime
Less pollution
More recreation
Healthier environment
Stable incomes
More open space
Better place to raise children
Less prone to world economy problems

Misses for A
Less money now but the future holds great rewards for tourism and other areas because the country will be pristine in a few decades while country B will be unpleasant.

Pluses for B
More money now but at some point in the future they will reach a point where they just can't continue to add people. Hence the fact that population increases like this are unsustainable - their economy will topple until they can adjust.

Minuses for B
(See all of the pluses for A and they are all minuses for B)
