my mam needs medical attention and needs to be in US for more than 90 days operation plus follow up visitst. She will be allowed under VWP 90 days, how can i get this extended? She resides and is a citizen fo EEC. Many thanks

VWP holders, because it is not a visa, cannot file for an extension nor change status.
An individual does not need a B-2 visa if they can use the VWP (Visa Waiver Program) for travel to the United States for less than 3 months. If your mother needs more than 3 months, she needs a B-2 visa.
Those who require the B-2 visa because the duration is more than 3 months, normally are given a 6-month period of stay in the United States if they are admitted as a B-2 visitor.
For Medical Treatment B-2s, it is important to prove that there is no U.S. government financing for medical expenses (however, the patient can receive donations from a local church or other non-profit organization that is offering support). |
