Hi all... I got married last tuesday.We both are under F-1 visa already in usa.
I just wanna know if My wife can apply for F-2 visa while in usa?
Second, where to apply(if she can)
Third, how much application
Do I need to hire lawyer or I can do it own.. is there any form that I can fill it up and apply ....Thank you so much whoever answer my questions..

1. Yes. It is called Change of Non Immigrant status.
2. File I-539 to USCIS.

If she's going to continue classes, there's no particular need for her to change status to F2. However, if that's what you want to do, you'll need to start by talking with your school to have her added to your I-20 and then you'll need to apply to USCIS to have her status changed. The school can help you set it all up. |

I have a similar situation, I would appreciate if anyone can HELP ME out!!! My fiance is studying in USA. I am a British citizen, and I WAS studying in USA untill I realised I didn't have the financial ability so I dropped out, then returned to UK. However, I still have the F1 visa that I applied and is still valid for 5 years, but ofcourse I am not registered to any university there right now.
I want to marry my fiance in USA and live there as an F2 spouse visa. I would like to know if it is possible for me to change my visa status in USA from F1 to F2 while I am IN usa. Because it would be so annoying and expensive to go all the way back to UK to change my visa status to F2. it could take months, if it would be declined. I hope it is possible to change it while I am there. Plus for extra information, I'll be living in West Virginia so I guess I'd have to travel to Washington to change my visa status??? Anyone help me out here? |
