For Americans - Illegal Immigration...?

1--Enforce the border, even if it means with troops. This is an invasion.

2--Sanction those who hire them. I mean jail. Even for little old ladies who hire them to mow the lawn. If there is no work, they will not come.

3--End birthright citizenship. These women who come over to shell out a kid so it will be a US citizen are a problem.

4--NO government benefits for illegals. I mean no school, no health care no food stamps, no nothing. That will also slow it down.

5--National Identity card for all, with biometrics. I used to be against this, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

6--Major jail time for the coyotes. That is if we don't shoot them as invaders and leave their bones to bleach.

I am half mexican. And I totally agree with the laws. My grandparents came to America legally. They took the time to fill out papers and get permission for citizenship. I am not ashamed of my heritage but I am ashamed of those taking advantage of the laws. America needs stricter laws. I always thought it would be a good idea to only allow so many in per year, extensive backgrounds searches, and tests. Tests be language, medical, etc. Something needs to be done.

1. Secure the borders using troops (just to deter illegals).
2. Have a better process of citizenship.
3. Stiff penalties for employers who hire people without proof of citizenship/ green card.
4. Deportation.
5. Have the nation of Mexico become a state in the union.

Illegal immigrants are taking the jobs that normal Americans would never take. Corporate America needs the cheap labor of illegal immigrants to compete with the cheap labor of countries such as China. Maybe Americans should get off their lazy @$$es and get an education so they can enter an industry where you can't be replaced by an immigrant who barley speaks English.

National Security along the borders!!! Deport the ones who are still here. How much money do you think we can gain back once we do that? It's just like breaking into someone's house. It is illegal! This is our country and they are breaking into it. The illegal mexicans need to be sent back there.

Why is it their country is so poor and crime ridden, and most of it is not abandoned? They need to go back to fix their country and stop invading ours, and no more money, jobs, and welfare for them!!!

The schools are overcrowded and they have illegal car insurance- not to mention the cars they drive are lawnmowers! Insurance rates are more expensive for the rest of us. I hate having to hear it every time they fly down my street.... UGH!

Round them up and deport them. Then build a 35' high and 20' thick reinforced concrete wall from Brownsville, TX to San Diego, CA. Place an armed Border Patrol Agent on the wall every 30 feet. If an illegal alien comes in again, send them to a Federal prison for 10 years. Send employers to prison who employ them.
Imprison those who overstay their visas. Imprison those who marry illegal aliens.

Your whole assumption is in error. Think about how illegal immigrants get jobs. American employers hire them knowing full well that they are illegal. This is done to get the cheap labour they provide to make the employer more money. The illegal immigrant probably spends a greater percentage of his income buying basic item to survive than you do. Yes illegal immigrants are a cost to such systems as welfare, schools, etc. but what would you do if people were dying of starvation in your neighbour hood. Or you found out that your gardener's children could not go to school. The vast percentage of illegal immigrants work at menial low paid jobs which you or your family want nothing to do with. Most are honest and hardworking but have no voice because they risk deportation and as such become a victim of rhetoric such as you have just written.

My solution to the immigration problem is so simple. We just add another star to our flag and have the state of Mexico follow our laws and pay taxes as the rest of America does. If that is not agreeable than the country of Mexico needs to repay our country for all the freeloading per person that has entered illegally.

the united states is in the process of blocking the barrier between mexico and the united states, that should be enough. also as an american for 32 years, i feel everyone in our country should have the right to work here and should be able to become a citizen. my husband has been waiting 10 years to get his papers, so are family can be sucessful in our business..

I would say, all illegal immagrants in this country need to be sent back to their own country. allow no more green cards or u.s. citizenships. block the borders and anyone who does try to get in will be jailed immediately and then sent back. if they are in this country illegal, they are put in jail till they can be sent back. if they are here on green cards they have to pay taxes right away, and become citizens right away in every aspect. if they commit crimes they are treated just like americans are. they are not allowed to live on welfare forever, they pay the same thing we americans do, they go by the rules the same way americans do, and they learn to speak english, not the other way around. we are here and speak english, if they come into this country, they speak it too or get out.

Illegal immigration will always be a problem in America no matter what. However, this problem can be better contained with stricter border control. The government could pass some laws that could help control this problem as well.

My solution, build walls with manned towers and high powered rifles. I am quite sure that if there is a threat of death for a border crossing attempt, the number of people trying will go down very quickly. Also, prevent them from having access to anything without paying money up front. No hospital emergency rooms, nothing. Make it the most undesirable place to be if you are here illegally and the flood of illegals will go away, quickly

The best long-term solution is to eliminate (or seriously reduce) the backlog at INS. A person in Mexico who wants to come here legally has an 18 year wait (!).

Illegal immigration is a response, not the original action. We need to do what we can to encourage legal immigration, including making it easier for people who want to follow the law to do so.

[Note, however, that illegals actually put a lot of money back into the economy. But you also have to remember that the money spent on them is a lless than what might be spent on, say, union labor, so it is not correct to think of illegals as only a drain. A reduction in the cost of food, for instance, would not be a drain since it allows the poor to buy more of it].

One person can't. You have to be able to vote. You have to organize. Or, you could learn Spanish and become Mexican.

Just think, soon we'll have an Nascor International Highway with Mexican Custom Agents in Kansas City. Then we'll have SPP, which will make Mexico, Canada, and the US one single economy, with their decisions on immigration and trade above our own Supreme Court.

We are about to become a two teir nation over the lowest common denominator out of all three.

It appears the only way to stop illegal immigration is to turn the country over to Mexico because their laws don't allow it.

Seriously: Make the US uninhabitable without proper citizenship. Make it impossible to rent an apartment without two or three forms of ID, make it impossible to get any type of job. Crack down on Americans that are hiring and renting to Illegals.

Once they realize there is no work or home for them here they will have to go home. Illegals who are arrested for whatever reason needs to be treated like a foreign terrorist, not like some poor guy without a driver's liscense who got pulled over for speeding.

I cannot agree that they do not put anything back. They absolutely do. But, illegal is illegal and it should be contained.

I do not trust these polititians. We are putting up a huge wall at great expense but, at the same time we are offering free education, jobs, free park access, free medical aid and the list goes on. We cannot blame these people for taking advantage of the resources offered to them. What we can do is stop giving it away. It costs no money to do this and makes our schools, hospitals and other services cheaper for us and more profitable.

It is rediculous that the politians keep offering incentives given no place else in the world to anybody who sneaks over the border.

Charge the country of Mexico the sum of 150,000 dollars for each and every one of their citizens that comes to america and screws up. I guarantee there'll be mexican soldiers joining hands from the gulf of mexico to the pacific ocean and helicopters and everything else they can muster to keep their people at home after that....the first 10 or so will get their attention, after that it'll be 'hands across mexico' LOLOL

first of all, not all immigrants are doing this to our economy, but unfortunately the big majority does.

im not sure how i would solve this- but i do believe that bushs way of dealing with it (a giant electric fence) is extremely inhumane. the border definately needs to up the security though!
