If you are married to a US Citizen, three years. If you are by yourself, 5 years. This is assuming you are in the USA on legal grounds. |

What's your status? Are you a legal permanent resident? What's your parents' status? Did they apply to immigrate legally for themselves and for you? As a minor, you need to know exactly what your parents have done and are doing for you regarding your status in the US.
If you are here illegally, then you must leave before you turn 18 and return to your country of citizenship. If you do so, your parents' illegal acts in bringing you here illegally will not be held against you. So in time you could obtain a student visa, or apply to immigrate, etc, if you qualify. If you do not leave before you turn 18, you will be a deportable illegal alien and barred from reentry for 10 years.
So tell your parents it is time for them to be exactly honest with you regarding your status. If they are not honest with you now, they could foul up your life before you even have a fair chance to get started. |
