Great country, but going down the same path as Britain is. And that is making dumb decisions to please the politically correct crown and not using any common sense. |

i tend to think of america as a land of extremes. on the one hand the country is at the fore front of science and research but on the other hand it has one of the highest percentage of scientific illiteracy and fundamental right ring christianity within the developed world.
One one hand its one of the economic giants in the world ... on the other millions of americans suffer without basics such as health care....
Really theres good and bad to every country but america in particular just seems to do everything that little bit more.. |

black people shooting at each other
freaky religous cults
really bad humour
big headed buisness men
thick bimbos
copy cats ( cheese in a can? )
obsessed with teeth
everyone is being brainwashed by their corrupt government
they think they are the best in the world
emotional
over the top
the country who says everyone should do somethingh about climate change because we dont have to because we are so great.
spoilt kids
everything is too big.
they have stolen the englisg language so the least they could do is speak it and spell it properly
their comedy is so boringly obvious and ridiculously the same.

Freedom? You have similar freedoms as the rest of the western world.
Democracy? Ditto
Opportunity? My daughter lives in the USA and is currently unemployed.
Economic might? Yes, you still have that.
Military might? Ditto
Wealth? Yes. But you don't always distribute it very fairly.
God bless America? I'm a secularist. |

Big country, big things (big cars, big waistline, broad roads) ut another thing come to my mind: World Bullies. US (govt) do not want friends, they want 'Yes' countries (Countries who say 'Yes' each time US wants something). |

The words "fat" & "ignorant" are usually the first two that come to mind
Edit to rayisback; no, I really do mean it. I've been to the USA remember. If you were a nation of Chomskys & Vidals I'd have a much higher opinion of you. Also, where the British "mods" come into it? I live in WA, not some little podunk patch of a place like Texas
Edit to rayisback; I "speck" 4 or 5 languages? I'm sorry, that randomly assembled jumble of letters that passes for an answer is completely illegible. Guess I was right to think of the word "ignorant". |

Excess, fat people and an inability to see the rest of the World as relevant.
Check you question, you are calling us, who do not live in the States, foreigners as if the US is the centre of the universe, from which all things stem. |

Big portions, fat people. Poor in the south, rich in the cities. Wide open spaces, long distances between places. Much the same as my country:) |

I'm afraid none of those in your list immediately make me think of America.
Freedom? - Modern Holland
Democracy? - Ancient Greece. After all they invented it.
Opportunity? - Australia
Economic Might? - The British Empire. No ones topped it yet.
Military Might? - Both Roman and British Empires, for obvious reasons.
Wealth? - Saudi Arabia, Monaco, Switzerland or the Vatican.
America symbolises to me all things crass, loud, brash, disposable and over-the-top. Yet in all it's glorious ignorant vulgarity, there is something hilariously magnificent about it. |

My word--you Americans really are an arrogant bunch, aren't you. Foreigners? Did it ever occur to you that your government stole the land that you live on from the Native Americans? Yet this is the immoral government that you applaud---shameful. With regards to your enquiry, this is the image that comes to mind when I think of America:

America also conjures the image of fat, redneck slobs who shop at Wal-Mart. Absolutely disgusting country--glad i'm in England. |

Yes Dustbin old son its time for you to sample these great treasures of the USA maybe then your obsession with Europeans and the British would fade into history as our once great Empire did and without doubt yours will follow. |
