I am in the process of remove conditions on permanent residence status. My Greencard expired in Nov 08, but I have the 1 year extension (dated June 08, now, I assume it's 1 year from Nov 08 they mean not June 14??).
When I try to call the INS to get a update on the case, they can't see anything on their computers based on my case nr. However, I did a address change in Sept and got a confirmation, so they must have the case nr somewhere in their systems...
Question, how do I get a update were my case are in the system and also that INS have the right address (I want to have it confirmed in person) - and last and most important, what if I don't have the new greencard within the extension time period!?

Go to USCIS.gov. Setup your email in the USCIS.gov with an account. Setup the query on your Case Number for this account. It will email you when something changes on your case.
You can also through USCIS.gov schedule an appoint at the local USCIS Office, though this would mean driving to the office for your appointment and showing up at the agreed upon time. The appointment would be no more then 15 minutes maximum.
I am assuming your sponsor is a US Citizen. Have your US Citizen sponsor put a query to the USCIS through their Congressman if you do not get your (10 year) Green Card issued to you in a timely manner...maybe 90 days before it expires. |
