My friend is here in the US from Germany and is a citizen and wants to bring over his fiance from Germany. He is still married in Germany due to a required grace period, 2 years I think, that is to allow for separators to reconcile, which he isn't going to do. What does she have to do to come over here, and then what would the steps be for her to become a US citizen? Thanks for the answers, I am trying to help him and I don't know.

Your friend is here from Germany and is a citizen. Of what country? Germany? US? Dual citizen? To come here (assuming he is a US citizen) to live she would have to wait until your friend is legally divorced, Have him file a K-1 visa, she then comes over and they have 90 days to get married (there is no "girl friend visa), they then file for a change of status, get a conditional green card, wait, get a regular green card, wait, file for naturalization and pass the test. This of course is if she wants to give up her German citizenship (Germany restricts dual citizenship and she would not qualify). |
