Good decision..... I have no problem with people coming to this country and wanting to work. If they have something to offer then fine. In this country we have too many immigrants who don't work and sponge benefits. Why should we allow this! I can't blame the immigrants for wanting a better life! I can blame the government for allowing this to happen. Also there are a significant number of immigrants who commit crime. They should be deported... simple as that. Apparantly it is against their human rights to be sent back to a country where they may be in danger!!!!! Absolute tosh!!!! what about the victims of these people in our country!!!! In my loacl city there are a number of gangs who deal drugs and carry firearms. I know for a fact that the vast majority are afro carribean or Somalian. Why are they allowed to stay in this country and cause misery??? I'll tell you why.... because the government has no bollocks!!!!!!

I know people who are citizens of Switzerland, and you're right about their policies. They also have mandatory military service for all men, 2 years I believe. But, it is a little easier for them, given their size in comparison to countries like the U.S. The larger a country is, the harder it is to control laws, regulations, etc. And, their borders are well secured - they check things like passports diligently, or at least they did when I was there. And, they have a very strong work ethic. Much better than we do in the U.S. as a whole.

Good decision. If the government stopped "nannying" the people who can't be bothered to get off their backsides to do a hard days work then we wouldn't need immigrants. MAKE THE LAZY BUMS WORK by CUTTING BENEFITS! Simple. I'm not talking about the genuine people who are bed ridden etc but people like my neighbour who complain they only get Â£100 a week to live on (plus Â£1,000 in rent and council tax and you know the rest!). Says it's not worthwhile her going to work. How much more c**p do we have to take from these lowlifes? Let's hope the conservatives get in come the next general election and shake up this country, make people like her work and solve this ongoing problem.

sounds sensible. Surely every nation has a right, duty even, to defend things for its own people? Work permits fine, refuge from wars fine, but go back after your contract ends sounds fair and shouldn't asylum seekers return home when the war is over (don't they want to anyway)?

Only a very few immigrants? According to Wikipedia, 21% of residents in Switzerland are resident foreigners and temporary foreign workers.

According to Wikipedia, only 16% of the population of UK were not of 'white British' ethnicity.

I know I'm not comparing identical data here, but Switzerland is not as 'racially pure' as you make out.

well, you know we re the country made up by immigrants. we do not have any problem at taking more immigrants, we need immigrants with thier skills bring in to build our country greater. We need small amount of immigrants and highly skilled workers every year based on a complex calculation. We re only having problem with illegal immigrants here. I think we should deport all those who are illegal and breaking the laws. We are not welcome them illegal, dont say i am a racist because i am not. I support the goverment to bring in immigrants and highly skilled workers in order for us to compete with other countries like China, or India with cheaper labor, but i do not encourage people who come here illegally. Illegal Immigrants do not respect our laws, they are burdens for our country. They claim they pay tax, they only work for $3 or $4 dollars an hour and how much tax they pay? we are paying tax more than they do but look at billions of dollars being sent to Mexico everyyear at our loss, look at billions of dollars being spent on welfare, housing, foodstamp, public school for thier offsprings who are born in our soil from illegal parents. It is just ridiculous and absurd. Deport them all.

Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Personally I think it's a realistic means to take care of your own.

Each and just about everyone of us has a budget that we live by. Responsible people use birth control as to how many children they feel they can care for and afford. They choose what cars they can afford even though they may want, like, deserve something much nicer. Most try to stay within their means on what housing they can afford even though there's much nicer places they would rather have. Many like to have a cook-out to spend the day with friends but I don't think many would be so obnoxious as to just move in coz they like what you have and want more. On a whole...people are very giving with what they have and are eager to assist.....but don't have the means to support others. It seems we have been open and generous and even went into debt trying to do well for others and there are those who have just planted themselves in our living rooms demanding we care for them by giving up what we have to them because they want it. We are a land of opportunity....not guaranteed entitlement. They are protecting their people and caring for their people. I don't remember any time in my lifetime where they have demanded hand-outs.....I don't see organizations with their people as the poster people for poverty or starvation. I don't hear of riots of their people fighting in the streets. Maybe they have something that works. I don't know. But I don't think it's heartless. They have the right to live as well. Just as we do. Right now I'm getting the impression that we are simply supposed to cease to exist so someone else can have it. Not to mention made to feel like we're the bad guys for not wanting to do it. Can you imagine where this country would be if we took all the money we have sent to foreign countries to help them and kept it to bring up the quality of life for everyone here? If every penny was kept for re-investment in this country? If immigration was stingy and 100% enforced? No...we probably wouldn't have been the favorite place....but we aren't now either. We're importing legal and illegal immigrants 1000's of times over for every job that has left our people un-employed so they have employment. They are literally giving our country away right out from under us. I wish our country was more protective of it's citizens.

In so far as I understand it important matters incl those involving immigration are put to the Swiss public vote through plebiscites. The Swiss people voted "no thanks" to widespead immigration - hence their policies. Democracy in action.

are "neutral"country,what a coincidence that The Vatican,only allow Swiss army to guard them and only if is a 3rd or 4rd
generation swiss....still,i do love swiss cheese...:)
