Green card process after quitting work?

I am currently on H1B visa (that will not expire till next year), but at the same time, I have been married to a US citizen over 2 years and have a year old child. I am in the middle of completing my paperwork for green card (I know I am slow with this), not turn them in yet.
I am in a situation where I really want to quit my company and dedicate my time to my child.
If I decide to do so, does that mess up my paperwork process? I know that I will get a temp. work visa in a month or so (when they receive my complete paperwork) but did not know I can just be a house wife while I wait for the temp. visa to arrive.
Or, should I stay at work till I complete the paperwork & receive the temp. work visa???
I am confused. Any legal advise will be appreciated!

I am applying for the green card through marriage. Yes, I know, I have been waiting too long to complete this process. I have simply been on H1B visa and still not gotten green card.

If it is only going to take a month to complete your paperwork, then just wait. |

For my hubby & me, we are in the process of getting green card too & have H1B right now. It will be a problem for us if he quits his job or gets fired. His company is sponsoring his green card so if he's unemployed then he can't get green card anymore unless he finds another job right away.
Why are you on H1B visa if you are married to US citizen? My friend got married to US citizen & she got her green card really fast. She could work right away & then her green card or citizenship came along soon.
I'm not sure what situation you are in but if you are in the process of getting green card through your employer, you better wait until you get your green card. |
