You can apply for citizenship if you have been married to the same US Citizen spouse for 3 years and you established residency for 3 years.Otherwise if you can't comply it like getting divorced or not completing the residency, it will be 5 years before you can apply for citizenship.

You don't become a citizen just by being married to one. You have to become naturalized, which involves taking a citizenship test and (usually) renouncing citizenship in your native country.

you can apply for citizenship after 3 years of marriage.but before you can do that, you will need to petition and be a legal resident for those 3 yrs. if u don't do 3 yrs of marriage, you need to be a legal resident for 5 yrs 2 apply for citizenship.

Assuming you qualify for naturalization, after three years of marriage you are eligible to apply for naturalization, or citizenship. There are some exceptions, but my answer applies to most cases.

You have to be married for about 2-3 years to get your permanent resident visa and then it takes about another 5-6 years to become a citizen. The time frames are variable as a lot of it depends on the work load at the INS department and your own personal history.
