Has the UK government made mistakes with immigration?

Mass immigration was the biggest injustice ever forced on the real British people. In the past European people came here to our Island, they came in small numbers and were very sophisticated often military people. Romans, Danes, Teutonic people from now Germany. Celtic as well. Celtic people spread from Europe and once ruled all of Europe

Now we get people who have never been near Europe and in massive numbers, they will make of the UK what they made of the countries they left behind if we are mad enough to let them

This situation is so dire now that i can only see that a real revolution in thinking is going to get our country back , I for the first time think that i might even vote BNP , I am so sick of seeing my country destroyed around me that i think now that drastic measures are the only solution . Our government has swamped us with people that are so diametrically apposed to our culture that its them or us . And the criminals that have visited this on us should be punished every PC should be sacked from his job and made sure they are given menial jobs were they can do no harm , that includes government so called ministers . every foreigner who will not take an oath of allegiance sent back to there country of origin , and the punishment for breaching such an oath a charge of treason , and with a proper judge presiding , not this bunch of crowd pleasers that masquerade as judges at the moment. Racist i am not but an Englishman i am , born and bred to be tolerant but not stupid , never to be ashamed of my country or my forbears , proud that i was born so . And to those that do not like it , if you do not like our laws or our culture what the hell are you doing here.

As far as they are concerned they have made no mistake, everything is in their eyes is going to plan.
Brits leaving in record numbers, native Brits birthrate falling, record numbers of legal and illegal immigration, home grown and foreign religious fanatics spouting death to non believers, incorporation of sharia law along side British law, ever increasing EU powers (could go on, but you get the message).

And if all this was not planed, well not only does the ship not have a rudder, it has neither a captain and a crew to boot.

At the present moment in time I do think its a big problem.
Because the more people they let in and give jobs to the more people will want in. OK maybe that's not too bad as it provides good sources to the economy. But, it then leads us to a problem, the more people we let in, the more people we will have to refuse. If people from other nations with criminal records etc try to get in and rejected, then they might try and get in illegally. Around 8000 foreigners tried and failed to smuggle their selves into Britain in 2007. If that's the amount that failed to get in, can you imagine the amount that succeed? This could cause havoc in our systems. I'm not a racist but I want to stop all immigration as soon as possible.

I think using migrants to fill "skills shortages" was one of the biggest ****-ups this Government have ever made!!!

Why? Because there are loads of people already in the UK who want to learn a skill, change jobs, earn more money etc who are trapped into low paid jobs because they can't afford to give up work and retrain at college, can't afford to pay Â£2,000 to private training companies and can't access apprenticeships because of age restrictions (must be under 25) and the fact that there are hardly any these days!

There are school leavers leaving school without having any particular trade or skill. There are media studies graduates who can't get work with their useless degrees and are trapped into low paying jobs. There are long term sick and disabled who want to retrain and get back to work but no employer wants them because retraining them is too costly!!!

These are the people the Government should have been using to fill "skills shortages". Guess what - it would have cost them money. Thats right. Retraining grants, apprenticeships, support etc. And the Government didn't want to spend it because they don't see the people of Britain as a worthy investment. They expected other countries to fill their skills needs whilst our own people are robbed of their pride and condemned to a life of crappy "service industry" jobs or the dole. They chose to "do it on the cheap" by importing people who've already been trained by other countries and as a result have massively increased our population, ignoring those already here who wanted the chance. Now we're going into recession and its going t*ts up in the worst possible way.

It stinks.

Cut back on immigration including EU migration and invest in our own people. Thats the only way this mess can be sorted out.

Yes it HAS got it horribly wrong. But then this New Labour government has been happily screwing over the UK for the past 11 odd years on a huge range of issues, including immigration & economic migration.
Immigration is out of control and extremely damaging now, not just economically, but also socially, culturally and to a wide range of vital state services such as welfare, education and the NHS. I'm totally sick of watching the country go down the tubes, but Im also sick of misinformed people like "Coco" above, who says things like "we all came from Africa" - Actually,thats complete nonsense.
Once upon a time, there were no continents or countries, then the world started to divide into separate peices and form continents and countries.
There is clear evidence that "Britons" were here in Britain some 500,000 years ago (Boxgrove man). As far as your version of us all being immigrants is concerned, well perhaps your talking about a few Celts who arrived in Britain over 2000 years ago or the few angles, saxons or romans (couple of thousand of each at best) who arived in Britain over a thousand years ago or perhaps you mean the few thousand french who arrived in Britain in 1066 !!

The true mass immigration and economic migration problem (actually huge problem) has occurred only in very recent times. Im not talking about the few that came over from the carribean on board the SS Windrush in the late 40's, nor am I talking about the asians expelled from uganda by Idi Amin in the late 60's. I'm talking about the tsunami of third world (sorry - developing nations) immigrants and east european economic migrants (over 1.2 million (not counting the illegals) of them) that have flooded into the UK over the past 10 years or so !!
Please wake up people and see the truth in the argument that both economically and socially, we are full !!

Of course they've got it wrong. If people like you or I were in Government maybe things would be different but alas, it seems that the people who want to be in power are the one's who shouldn't be in power. Speak out about it and someone will play the 'race' card and you are labelled a xenophobe. Future governments will all blame each other over the problem but no one will know how to sort the debacle.

yes , they've been naive on immigration, but in many other ways they've not been bad, we've all had quite a luxurious lifestyle over the last few years, weekends in Prague, Jimmy Choos etc., now it's all come to an end.

LadyMoon's mentioning of people with Media Studies degrees not being able to get decent jobs, I don't think this has much to do with immigration - more on the value of pointless Degree subjects (Media Studies, Business Studies, Psychology, etc)
