No they haven't.
If they are getting jobs it is because their work ethic is better than that of young British kids.

Well, they haven't taken mine, so at least one UK job is in UK hands.

There are very few jobs about where I live. Certainly, many recent immigrants seem to occupy positions.

However, this is not the fault of the immigrants. Employers are at fault, as they seem keen to employ immigrant labour at less than the UK minimum wage (which in itself is a pittance), and is thus the fault of the Government, which does not police wages policy or employment law sufficiently. There is no point in having law if it is not policed.

That being said, UK benefit levels are too high in some cases, just as the minimum wage is too low. Frankly, one can lose out on housing benefit, Council tax etc if one takes a job on minimum (legal) wage.

The balance can be restored if the minimum wage is increased to at least Â£8 per hour, employment law is properly policed, and, just as important, the excess hours culture in the UK is legislated against. At the moment, countless employers are getting free labour because people are prepared (have to) to work overtime for nothing.

No, they haven't.
In the economic mess that is our credit crunch, and things have been pointing toward this way for a while, employers rub their hands gleefully, if you aren't willing to take their desperately rubbish wages and long hours, then there are a million other candidates and one of them will be more desperate.

This isn't about immigrants, but they will get nothing if they don't work, so they will take the low paid rubbish.

Living near Sunderland, where (doesn't it make you proud) we have the highest level of lazy, benefit cheats in England, I am sick of hearing them say "I would get a job but the immigrants take them". They would not get a job. They have no more intention of getting a job than flying to the moon.

There are very few "good jobs" left in this country, immigrants are not the problem, they did not make this situation, our government did, it is crippling us!!

some Polish men earning Â£2000 per month cutting beet in Liecestershire, but they work 14 hrs per day, british youths would not do it, they are lazy and have learned how to manage on dole money

No mate they mostly do the jobs British people are too lazy to do or think isnt good enough money. I worked on a building site last summer and seen the laziest English men young and..not so young. Then there were a few immagrints who put them to shame coming in every weekend for an extra Â£12 after taxes etc and none stop working.

A few people complain about Polish workers too but their bricklayers do decent jobs and are cheaper. UK based bricky's just dont like having to compete

the labour party decided it was cheaper to leave british young people uneducated. they made it easier for single girls to have a baby or 10 then get a council house and live on ample benefits. they made it impossible for minimum wage earners to live without handouts. then they imported immigrants to do the jobs that british people wont / cant afford to do. its almost impossible for british people to live on minimum wage. we have to tax our cars, buy tv licence, pay council tax , pay bills. immigrants dont do that. i work. so does my husband and we do ok. but i can see why so many people find it more profitable to claim benefits rather than work for less than benefits. labour has made this mess with handouts. labour has created a subservient nation.

Until the recent downturn there was a glut of jobs in all sorts of industries for any motivated, willing & moderately educated British citizens, an apprenticeship in the trades would have been easily enough come by. EU economic migrants almost universally received the minimum wage so the cry of stolen jobs is nonsense, they really were jobs that domestics wouldn't do, which is a shame.

well i think when it comes to immigrants my job is relatively safe..after all would you trust someone with poisons and nerve gas who can't speak the lingo?.

you do raise a valid point though jeremy!-i left school in 1980-on friday may 23rd to be precise.

on monday 26th may 1980 i walked straight into a job as an apprentice electrician-can't see that happening today.

this puppet government cannot very well order the indeginous population back to work when an estimated 1 million posts are taken up by immigrant workers (a fact the government has now come to realise-why else do you think it has shut-up about slashing the benefits of those not finding work!).

add to this the primark situation (immigrant workers-mostly illegal in the UK working for Â£3 an hour in sweatshops) and the problem becomes untenable-and don't tell me thats the only one in the UK!!.

when we were having the obligatory pub discussion back in 1997 regarding the allowing of migrant workers into the country i stated it should never be allowed-this nation has stood head and shoulders over everyone else for centuries by using its own population as the workforce-why should it change now?.

i said "we should never let them in-once the floodgates open there will be no stopping them"

on that day over ten years ago i was castigated by certain members of that group-i was called "selfish" and "unchristian".

now they fall silent-they have nothing to say. (at least two of them cannot get jobs for love nor money because as one poster rightly says-how can you compete with a pole who is prepared to earn Â£30 a day?)

No that's just something the anti immigration Daily Mail readers say, they have not taken all the jobs, yes there are some people who have migrated to the UK who have taken jobs in this country but there are plenty of Brits who have a job.

I have a polish guy i know who works a cleaner and he wants to better himself and get a good paid job, he is now studying English and wants to train and get qualifications, so why shouldn't he get a better job and do well if he puts in the hard work

the same people that let in massive numbers of immigrants are the same people that have allowed the socialist nightmare that is our benefit system to be abused so badly. Im not happy about the poles being here but i can believe they work harder, because they come from a nation that if you dont work - you dont eat. Why is it so hard to see what the problem is in this country. Liberalism is killing it and turned a once proud strong nation into a joke full of lazy w**kers who will have no problem blaming someone else for their own shortcomings.

Get the immigrants out and tell our scum that if they want to see their next meal, get out in do the jobs that need doing!

The immigrants took all the jobs that many Britons arrogantly think are beneath them, not to mention the professional and highly skilled jobs that your average immigration hater is too thick to do.

I suspect that the difficulty in getting jobs has rather more to do with unregulated banks lending recklessly, then, when the whole mortgage-based credit system went **** up and they found their share prices plummeting, calling in their loans and putting various businesses on the scrapheap.

So, unless you're suggesting that UK and US banks are run by immigrants, your suggestion appears to be nonsense. After all, what happened during the massive recession in the 1930s? Three million people lost their jobs, when the non-white population of the UK was minuscule. Unemployment is a product of economic presures - it is not "caused" by immigration

There are plenty of jobs. You might be interested in a book called 'Flat Earth News' - it has a chapter on how the Daily Mail fabricates stories about foreigners and asylum seekers.

yeah what t**ts sorry just my opinian though how are we ever gunna get jobs when they work in these rubbish places and then we have muslims taking over aswell us british born people have to work hard get degrees but muslims can have bennifits and can be given a house for nothing this world is so wrong

its a bit of a mix, there's too many immigrants which came over in too short a space, so jobs were taken.
But on the other hand, english youngsters have become increasingly lazy, so there's quite a few who are on the doll and steal.
