A man who grew up in Sacramento is now sharing a traumatic story on the internet. He is a pastor who says he was beaten for exercising his constitutional rights.

"I'm crying out for mercy, they are torturing me with tasers again and again," says Pastor Steven Anderson.

Pastor Steven Anderson claims he was tortured during a common border patrol stop in Arizona.

The father of four says he exercised his consecution right not to be searched without a warrant. He says that's when he claims agents broke out his passenger and driver side windows.

"Both windows shattered in the same instant," says Anderson.

"I felt like his full body weight was just driving my face into more broken glass and asphalt," Anderson explains.

It took 11 stitches to close the cuts on the pastor's face.

Many people who work in immigration are honest people who are just doing their jobs. However, there are a certain number of fanatics who regularly abuse their power and authority. Also, in some cases local government law enforcement agencies have been authorized to act on immigration, and this has resulted in a lot of abuse. Finally, we have private citizens and private organizations that are essentially motivated by racism.

Fundamental immigration reform is long overdue.

If he was not doing anything wrong, he would have and should have agreed to the search. The border patrol is dealing with drug cartel, murderers etc.... they need to take precautions with everyone they deal with. police are allowed to do the same to citizens in a road stop if they refuse to follow procedures, what makes this person any better. because he claims religion on his side, I do not think so!!

A warrant is not needed if there's probable cause to believe drugs are involved, and since the article states it was a K-9 that alerted them to the vehicle, they had probable cause. His lack of cooperation probably expanded that probable cause.

I don't agree with the level of force used, but it wasn't only the border patrol agents involved, and I'd hardly call them 'right wing extremists' for wanting to search a vehicle that they thought may have been involved in drug smuggling, a huge problem when it comes to the border.

This will probably turn out something like the story a while back you got your knickers all twisted up about. "US citizen arrested by police and held for ICE" Sounded good until the police showed the tape of him stating he was an illegal alien! Then you didn't say anything about it again! Do you know many of the stories are false or greatly exaggerated? And how many involve a "Pastor"? How about how many of these morons try to sue the police by saying they are illegal aliens or they got beat up by the police when the incident was caught on tape show their lies? LOL
Next we'll be getting stories about police targeting "pastors" or some other BULL CR@P! LOL

So there's your answer Tony. The government should enforce all laws on the statute books - especially those concerning illegal immigrants obviously - but suddenly suspend them when it comes to an American citizen's right not to be searched without a warrant.

It's very clear if you just close one eye, tilt your head to one side, squint your good eye and hit yourself repeatedly around the head with a mallet.

So to recap - enforce all laws of the country apart from the ones we don't much like. Glad we cleared that one up.

They don't need a warrant if the dog alerted them to the car, it's called probable cause. Also, just listening to the guy, I'm willing to bet he had become belligerent, and resisted.

You may have a point there in the Border Patrol in being too excessive. After all there are cops that do use abuse their powers.

However, there are border patrol stops along the Interstate Highways in Southern Arizona. These are check points and the border patrol does have the authority to stop all cars entering the check points. I have not read the laws and procedures in details but I assumed if the border patrol has the authority to stop them then it has the authority to search the cars as it sees necessary.

A couple of years ago I was driving from Yuma, AZ to San Diego, CA on I-8. As I approached the CA border, there was a US Border Patrol check point. I slowed down and the guard waved me through. If the guard ordered me to stop and asked me to get out and search my car, then I have to obey because at that time I though they had the authority. If the border patrol did not have the authority then this would have been brought to national attention many years ago. It would have been challenged back then. Again, I did not research this in detail.

Did the border guard abuse his powers, maybe, but I still think the guard has the authority to stop and search all cars. Think about it for a minute, why would the US government put itself in a position so it can easily be challenged?

Before asking this kind of question you might want to first research the laws and procedures on border patrol. If you had hard facts in your favor you can easily make your point and your question would have been very difficult to answer by decent law-abiding US Citizens.

Sadly,this is yet another story that doesn't surprise me! That's awful.Something needs to be done to stop people like this NOW! It's disturbing that some of the people who answered your question are actually making excuses for this type of behavior.
