Nope. But truthfully.. I really don't think anyone is trying to change an opinion. It has surprised me at times at how bitter and unhappy some of these people are.

I know of at least one poster who says they have changed sides as a result of this forum. I know of others who have acknowledged that someone from the other side of the issue has raised good points. So perhaps their thinking has broadened out a bit.

But for me--its simply entertainment. I have learned a few facts; I have taught a few facts. ANd i've busted a few trolls.

All in all--not too bad an experience.

Yes, I actually have. I saw a man who was against illegal immigration, because he himself did not feel he could compete with them in the work place. I convinced him that there was a serious problem if he cannot compete with an uneducated person, that cannot speak english. Especially considering all of the educational opportunity in this country.

He actually wrote me asked me what I was talking about. I explained to him about the FAFSA, and that he can borrow enough to live on while he gets his degree even if he has a family.

HE DID IT. He is enrolled in college now.

Of course he was not a racist. I have never turned a racist.

You cannot use logic to change the mind of someone that has an ingrained irrational fear or revulsion for a race. It will take God to do that.

You can recognize them because they say they are just enforcing the law, but will not discuss if the law should be changed.

Nope and I ain't tryin to . We got our own opinions an that's ok in my book . An there ain't no point in arguin or pointin fingers cuz our elected officials is gonna do what they want anyhow . I state my opinion an if someone don't like it give a thumb down don't much matter to me . I ain't here lookin for glory or needin someone to validate my self esteem . I yam what I yam don't like it tough . This here site is suppose to be a place to air views not make the countries policies . Ya don't see no govment officials on here lookin for advice that's for sure .

yes , i have . My colleagues at work , i`m always the one runnig and closing deals also i`m the only hispanic guy in the company everybody else is white , they are good to , but i always need to work harder because my ethnicity.

I really don't hope or try to change anyone's opinions. I like the exchange of ideas, sometimes people with different views than mine have presented things in respectful ways that have given me food for thought. And, if someone is looking for facts, and its info that I am knowledgeable about, I like to try to help them out.

I hope so. Illegal immigration is the new racism. Supporters call everyone against Illegal immigration racist in return for turning a blind eye. Laws are laws and when we decide in the shadows to ignore them for one reason or another someone is being victimized. I for one want the best for the people coming here, but allowing them in the country illegally is now answer. We need to lock the border down tight, catch em, and put them in public service for at least a year away from the one's they love then ship em back to their home country. Find the people harboring, assisting them, Take away their citizenship (if they have it) and send them back too. If they been here 10 years or so (good behavior) we ship em to jail for a year away from their loved ones. Punish these employers employing them. Stop the illegal immigration, stop the problems, stops the drugs, etc etc etc. So if I me speaking up helps change just one person's mind, then I am successful. So shout and call people racists, I know that tactic.

The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" was intended to exclude American-born persons from automatic citizenship whose allegiance to the United States was not complete. With illegal aliens who are unlawfully in the United States, their native country has a claim of allegiance on the child. Thus, the completeness of their allegiance to the United States is impaired, which therefore precludes automatic citizenship

And everybody is interrupting it by only using "All persons born or naturalized in the United States"

But forgeting: AND subject to the jurisdiction there of are citizens of the United States and the state where in they reside

The point is to state facts about illegal immigration and why immigration laws need to be enforced. When someone googles for facts about illegal immigration, I hope they come across my questions and answers. (that's how I found Y!A, I googled for something unrelated and found my place here).

No, and no one has changed mine. I think those who try to persuade me on their side of this issue make no sense, think it is all about them and I can't keep up in the circular arguments of fiction they try to use to persuade me with. And the gin lover made perfect sense about this board you mention.
