Have you ever committed a crime?
Find answers to your legal question.

Have you ever committed a crime?

I have twice.Once a speeding ticket and another time I bounced a check.I made a mistake in math truthfully and was overdrawn by 32 cents. But the check still bounced.Because it was a very large amount it was considered a felony.Thank goodness the car dealer and my bank took pity on me and looked at my past record and granted me a reconciliation. So how does this differ from someone who has ONLY broken a border law?Someone with no past offenses here or in their own country? Is it ok because I'm a citizen?
Additional Details
No I admitted it was intentional speeding.I was in a hurry.

Yes, as we all have, but thinking that the illegals should not be deported because we all have at one time or another have committed a crime is excusing bad behavior. If a bank robber was asked his plea, if his answer was, yes your Honor I am guilty, but we let the illegal live among us so why should I be held responsibly for my crime.

gitoutofusa
Yes & I did the time & so should illegals.Enforce our laws & start the deportations, laws apply to all.

Taking education at the cost of $10,000 per child per year (using California numbers) is ongoing theft and not petty theft.

It's not okay for anyone to break the law. When you break the law, you should expect the punishment you get. When you speed, you expect to get stopped. Breaking federal law by crossing our border illegally is a misdemeanor, and it become a felony when you become employed. You have to remember that if these illegal immigrants are going to use our supreme law of the land, the Constitution, in their defense, they've also got to expect that all the other laws apply to them as well.

Speeding you got a ticket and I assumed you paid the fine. Those who break the law of our land and cross our border illegally aren't paying a fine, they aren't leaving, but they are denying someone who would like a job - that job. It is fine that you made a mistake and the dealer and bank too pity on you - the people who crossed our border did not make a mistake they broke the law - intentionally - you didn't do so intentionally. Those people should be punished. Do you really think if you had bounced a check on the purchase of a car intentionally they'd have taken pity on you?

slew
Yes. Indecent exposure. Don't ask.

As for the speeding ticket you paid the penalty.
As for the bounce check, there is a difference between knowingly committing a crime and an accident.

Yes I have. funny thing though, no one held rallies or asked the government to give me any amnesty, must be because I am a citizen and have less rights.
I broke the law, knew if I was caught I would have to pay the penalty and I did.
What do you mean, ONLY broken a border law, I ONLY beat the H**L out of some guys who attacked my cousin with clubs at a party, shouldn't I have been forgiven, I was only trying to save my family members life?
The way it was explained to me by the cops was that, your reason doesn't matter, breaking the law is a crime.
I have committed other crimes also, I was not always acting for a noble or good cause, I was being selfish and only worrying about my self, but the same principle holds, it doesn't matter what your reason is, breaking the law is a crime, and if you deliberately break the law, you should accept punishment if caught.

yes - where do you want me go start

Answer: NO! As a citizen you had the "privilege" of driving, the legal "right" to open a bank account. Non citizens compound the violation of the federal crime of invading every time they drive or mis-represent their I.D. to obtain privileges or services.
When everything an illegal invading criminal alien does just compounds their immoral criminal activity further...don't you believe their should be a point when law abiding citizens say enough is enough...
By the way...did you admitted that your speeding was intentional and not a lapse at the time??? I thought not!

Speeding is considered a civil infraction, which is why job applications say you don't have to put them down when you apply for a job that doesn't require you to drive on the clock. Plus, you paid your fine didn't you? That's the difference between you and the illegals who break the law and come here. They get rewards for doing that, unlike those of us who have had at least one traffic ticket and paid for it.

East Coaster
Umm you could have easily been sent up for 5 years and paid a fine. Ninety-nine percent of the time Illegals [when they are caught] are not fined, not sent to prison, not even sent back to their country.

When you enter another country [illegally] you are [from the start] spitting on that country. You are saying "I have NO RESPECT for this country or its laws and I have NO RESPECT for these people". It is all about taking what they can, when they can and however they can with no fear of the consequences [until they are caught and most of the time not even then].

That is the difference.

Sigh. The more I read stuff like this, the more I'm convinced that 99% of the people on this board are dumb as a pile of rocks.

Well, let's see.

A speeding ticket is a traffic violation in most states, but it is a violation of law. Not even classified as a misdemeanor.

I have committed a misdemeanor. I ran over a light post and drove away. I got it dismissed by hiring a lawyer and surrendering my license for 3 months.

Now, as for felonies, I haven't ever committed one. There is a difference between being charged with a traffic violation, a misdemeanor, and finally a FELONY. Obviously, you wouldn't have been convicted because the car dealership understood you didn't KNOWINGLY commit a crime. But people coming over the border do knowingly, pre-meditatedly, commit a felony.

Yes,I drank underage and I got a ticket for no seat belt once.
I was punished for both. I kind of felt the seat belt thing was a bit bogus though as I wasn't even driving!
It's different because if we get caught we get punished, when illegals are caught they are typically set loose with no punishment.
We must have rules or society breaks down. We also need to have only a certain number of people in the country. That's part of the need for immigration laws. Imagine if everyone in the world came here. Would we have the recources etc?
We have poor and homeless here in the country that aren't being taken care of.
I am by no means an advocate for any law breaking citizen or not. However, there are many reasons that I feel makes it different but you get the basic jist hopefully.

Nobody
no but I have been in the back of squad cars a couple of times -- once they thought I might have robbed a 7/11 and the other time they thought I might have robbed a branch bank... I just was in the wrong place a t the wrong time and sort of looked like the suspects .... I really don't trust cops anymore ...

mikea_va
Illegals are breaking the law everyday!!! If you bounced a check or got a speeding ticket everyday for 10 years does that make it right just because you've done it for 10 years???? Of course not!!!!! Same principal applies here!!

Lots of illegals abuse the system and stay in this country with no intention of become US Citizens. You mean to tell me that an illegal who has been in the US for 10 years (as an example) has not had a chance to become a Citizen yet?????? They had enough opportunity, but choose not to. They rather sponge off the American tax payers, steal jobs and hurt the economy!! Seems like they are breaking more than one law!!!

Since our state criminal records, and data are not directly tied to country of origin in which the illegal(s) have come. Nothing is absolute with regards to whether or not they actually have a record, or criminal history. For all I know, speeding, and a bounced check (or worse) could have been their crimes their as well. ___ for all I know, they might have shot a dog. And in most states here that is a felony law. In fact any inhumane actions taken upon any animal is. My point is some have gotten caught, while others have gone undetected. As I always say - there are those who have gotten busted, and those who are waiting their turn.

cisco kid the top violator
well its a crime to look this good so i guess so
