Hi! If you were here illegally before being married, you are still illegal under immigration law. You have to return to your country and apply for residence. If you do not you can be deported. In the event you had a visa to meet your future husband, your green card should come from Immigration. You must file for this at your nearest immigration office. If everything is O.K. you should be able to get it right away. You will receive a provisional resident visa. After being married two years or more, you will get a regular resident visa.

you need to file your paperwork soon, then they will give you a temporary work permit, about 6 months time they will issue you a conditional green card which only valid as long as your marriage still valid, after 5 years you will eligible to apply for a premanent green card if you still with your husband.

The green card is just a term You would have got your permanent resident card that used to be called green card.
Now you need 4 years of uninterrupted stay to make you a citizen.

i just married a Peruvian woman and we paid a immagration lawyer $3900. okay ...i went to read your question in french,so? you have married 3 months ago, still not applied for any sort of papers, and you have been illegal in the US, 22 years....
did you come here to marry the first time? if so? how long were you married? or did you come here as a tourist? and overstayed?
