How Do I Apply for Spanish Citizenship?

My grandparents fled Spain in the 1930's because of Franco, and I recently heard that the Spanish Government is offering Spanish Citizenship to decendents of such emmigrants.

I know that I qualify, but I'm not sure I can get my grandparent's birth certificates etc. all in order. Has anyone out there gone through this process? Where can I get the application? More information?

I have searched all over the internet, and I suppose the Spanish Embassy might be the next place I try... but any short cuts would be very helpful!

Politically Correct

Contact your nearest Spanish Embassy or consulate. In addition to their birth certificates, you will need to prove that they were actually Civil War exiles. They will tell you what kind of documents they will accept for this.

For sure you will need birth certificates and marriage certificates linking all three generations to you so you can start there now.

And there is only a two year window for applications so don't wait too long!

anytime one wants to apply for citizenship by descent? one cannot skip a generation in the lineage.
you grandparents must have transmitted the citizenship to your parents and your parents to you.but? in this case? there might be exceptions?
