How can I apply for a US citizenship for my daughter?

Hi. I'm a US citizen living abroad. My wife is Philpina and our daughter was born in Manila.

our daughter just turned 6 and I want to get her a US passport. ANy idea what the procedure is for doing this? I just looked on the US Embassy Web site in Abu Dhabi, but there were no links for Citizenship applications.

You and your wife need to go, together, to the US Embassy in Manila. Take your marriage certificate from NSO or an official certificate from where ever you did get married if not the Philippines, your US passport, the baby's birth certificate from the NSO in Manila, passport photos of the child and proof that you have actually lived in the United States for a minimum of 5 years, 2 years of which was after age 14.

You and your wife will file a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. You'll pay a fee. In about 4 to 6 weeks the embassy will issue a US passport for the child, a Social Security card for the child, a Consular Birth Certificate and a completed copy of the Consular Report of Birth Abroad.

You will need an appointment at the embassy. Yes, you must be there in person. Your wife cannot do it without you.
