Yeoman Warders began guarding the Tower in 1485; today there are 35 Yeomen Warders and one Chief Warder. All warders are retired from the British Armed Forces and must be former senior non-commissioned officers with at least 22 years of service. They must also hold the Long service and Good conduct medals. NCOs from the Army, Royal Marines and Royal Air Force are eligible to apply, but members of the Royal Navy are not, because while members of the other services take oaths to the Crown, members of the Navy take an oath to the Admiralty. |

As in the case the the lady who has just become one, she was serving in the British Army with 20 years experience, and got the job on merit beating 5 guys in the process, as to you it's unlikely, you look like one of the great unwashed. |

You have to have been a non-commissioned Officer in the Army or Royal Air force with a clean record of service of about 22 years. Service in the Royal Navy ddoes not count because their Oath is not to the soveriegn but to the Lords of Admiralty |

if you wanna be a beefeater as in the Yeoman Warders who guard the crown jelwes in their silly outfits then you need to join the army and spend at least 20 years in it then if you are lucky you might have a chance of becoming one.
If however you juat want to eat beef then look at the answers above |

22+ yrs service in the British Army, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force as a senior Non Comissioned Officer (Only these three branches are eligible, they take an oath to the Queen, the Royal Navy can't because they take an oath to the Admiralty) and have been honorably retired. |

Watching the news this morning, the first female beefeater said she had to be in the army and the person had to obtain the rank of warrent officer, obtain the good conduct and long service medal and they were the minimum requirements to be able to apply.
So unless your in the army you have lucked out. |
