No joke - this is a real question. Since illegals have stolen ids, stolen social security numbers and faked documents, how can you tell if they are illegal aliens?

Employers cannot and are not expected to...they are required to file I-9 forms and to see documentation that looks believable. Then they pay social security payroll taxes against those SSNs and names. IT is up tot he government to detect when there is an invalid SSN used, or a wrong name SSN, or multiple uses of the same SSN in distant places. They do have program to do all those things. |

That's why a legitimate employer asks for state id and a social security card. I do online verification of all social security numbers. Then I verify all id's. Takes just a few minutes. The SSN has to match the name and age of the id. And then the id has to valid. Only government issued picture id is acceptable. |
