I live in UK how can i go to America and live there and work?
i am only 16 and i know i can't do this now but for the future i want to live in america and i would like to work as an engineer but if i study in UK can i get a job in america, please help

Why in the world would anyone want to move to a country where people earn half the wages as in the UK? IF you get a vacation in the US, it is usually for one week a yr without pay. No job security, meaning your employer can fire you at any time for any reason or no reason. At least in the UK you get a job contract after one yr employment. NO health care. If you can get health care where you work, you will pay out the butt every pay period, then have co payments and deductibles every time you go to the doctor. Versus free health care, and only 6 pounds a prescription in the UK. More people than I care to mention have to file for bankruptcy every yr due to medical bills they can't afford. Housing is cheaper in the UK. Food is cheaper in the UK. Flights to most of Europe and other countries are cheaper than domestic flights in the US. Cars in the UK get almost twice the gas mileage as they do in the US.
The average working person in the UK does pay more in taxes yes, but because wages are so much higher in the UK, they still bring home more money in their pocket even after paying taxes than Americans do. Yes we pay a piddly amount in taxes, but that is also what we get in return. Piddle. Oh we have police forces the size of an army in most other countries.
America is not what it is cracked up to be. There is a saying, 'The grass is always greener on the other side.' I have personally been on both sides, and it just doesn't make sense to me and my husband (a British citizen who currently has a US green card) why anyone who has an ounce of sense would want to move to the states voluntarily.
(as a side note, he is here now because it was easier for him to move here, than for me to move to the UK. It is a temporary situation and we will be moving back soon)
But if you are bound and determined to move to the states, then yes, it is possible. Once you have your degree, you can apply for a job and your employer will get a work visa for you, IF you are in a field that is in much demand here. I am sorry if I busted your dreams about America, but honestly you asked a question, and I wanted you to be fully aware of what you may be walking into. |
