I am a U.S citizen but my parents arent. How is this going to affect my chances of going into college or my chances of receiving financial aid?

You can go to college there is no question about that because you are a US citizen. As for your financial aid, that does go off your parents income normally IF your parents claim you as a dependent on their tax forms. If they don't pay taxes or if they do pay taxes but don't claim to support you then your income is used to see if you can get financial aid, if you don't work or make very little then you have a very good chance of getting it. |

Since your parent are racist illegal alien border criminals they should be jailed and then DEPORTED NOW.
If you can pay for college yourself you can go. But since your parents chose to be illegal alien border criminals and didn't have enough respect for your fellow Americans to obey our laws. You should receive NO financial aid from Americans. |

Actually "Legal Lover" is correct with the chances of receiving financial aid. So, that one that said she is bigoted has it all wrong. They go off your parents income, if they don't claim their income then you will not get help from the government. That doesn't mean you can't go to college. |

If you were born in the United States of two parents who were not citizens, your citizenship follows the citizenship of your parent.. or your parents. I believe that is exactly where you are at, and because you are, you should be charged out of country tuition. |

Why does everyone assume non-citizens are illegal immigrants? I've lived here for 26 years legally, and have yet to file for US citizenship. I will be doing so this year, but these comments are completely unfounded.
Anyway, as far as the question, it may not even affect your financial aid. I went to UCSB and got financial aid easily, and neither me or my parents are US citizens. They never even mentioned it and it's right there on my application form. |

Possibly could affect your receiving financial aid because it goes off your parents income. Considering they are illegal and mooching off tax payers and not paying taxes it will be hard to prove their income. Just get loans like other people have to do. |
