Immigrants don't cost anything. To be an immigrant you have to "prove you can support yourself". This means have a job or enough money to live without one.

As long as illegals come into our country, we have to treat them humanely. They are here because our politicians are looking for votes - pure and simple. Who do you blame? Blame the voters - all of them - the 40% who go out and vote, and the 60% who stay home and let them speak for us. If you want to help any situation, help get out the vote to get appropriate people in office.

Dave is correct. One of the criteria for LEGAL immigration is the ability to support oneself without soaking the American taxpayer.

your answer is politics. Even though politics is good it is also loaded with bad practices from those who are put in office by voters. So know who you vote for and why. If they have bad ideas in the beginning they probably will get worse after they get in office. If an immigrant is here he should have to abide by the same rule as I do. I think you get my drift!

Yeah I know what you mean, yet again my family and I have lost out on a council house due to immigrants getting a house before us, we pay our council tax and every other tax the govrment throws at us, yet we cant get out of very high priced private accommodation cos all the local houses are being given to immigrants who come over to this country.

Illegals and Asylum seekers cost us money in the UK. Asylum seekers can't work so they cost us money in benefits and housing. Illegals are cheap to employ and will tolerate poorer working conditions that local people who want a fair wage and fair working enviroment.

Immigrants do take jobs away from local people although in cases where certain skills are in short supply or certain jobs are not wanted by the locals this is not a problem. What worries me is that we won't have enough jobs for our own population and those who want to come here to live.

Immigrants come here to work, so will also be paying tax. And they'll frequently be doing jobs that no-one else would want do - like cleaning, childcare, working as carers in hospitals.

You are being misinformed if you are being told they get priority above tax payers. In fact all legal immigrants who do work in the country pay taxes as well as an estimated 70% of illegals. The problem with the illegals is that they use a fake SSN in order to get jobs. This is why the republicans were pushing so hard to make any illegal who has commited "identity theft" ineligible for citizenship. This makes 70% of the illegals immediately inelligable for citizenship. The problem is that the only ones that leaves as potential citizens are the ones who have not contributed to the tax base.

vampytooth, you are really being misled. Poll taxes are illegal under the civil rights act. They are used to keep poor (black) people from voting. If anyone is imposing them in your area it is republicans keeping the blacks from voting and using immigrants as scapegoats.
