The child should go with the parent. The parents took the chance in coming here. The child is welcomed back anytime.
And you know darn well people are abusing this-its been on the news.
If I drop a baby at your house do you have to pay for all of us to stay in your house with benefits.
Lots of kids have stupid parents who do awful things. It is not the kids fault but they do suffer because of their parents decision.
If they don't want them then put them up for adoption. I will not reward law breakers because they can have children. |

It kills me what some people have to say on the immigration issue. Lest we forget that, technically speaking, we're ALL immigrants one way or another.
And let me ask some of you this-you would punish a child for their parent's sins? Should we punish you for your parent's sins? How about your grandparent's sins?
What about those whose great grandfather, or grandfather came here from Italy or Germany and now oops! They gotta go back. Should the US deport everyone down the line? children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc, etc, etc.
What kills me, when I hear people talking about the immigration issue is that most people are only talking about the Mexicans, and Cubans who come here illegally. Especially where I live at. But I don't hear too many people complaining about the immigrants from Ireland, Scotland, Italy, or any of the other various European countries. Some of them come here illegally too. Maybe some folks should think about what they say before they open their mouths. Oh, but why should they? After all, who would be left to oppress the rest of us? |

No we should not change the laws!!! if the law says if you were born here in the US then you are a citizen. If people don't like the fact that illegal immigrants have children here and that makes their children citizens too bad that's the law. I think it's cruel to separate families like that!!! I mean yeah it's the law. BUT come on have a heart!! |

Because I think this law is out-dated and should be gotten rid of ASAP. Illegal immigrants are taking advantage of this law. I don't think we are being cruel to deport parents of "minor US children." I think the parents of these children are cruel to have used their children in this way for their own benefit, in the first place. We are not cruel, because the illegal immigrant parents always have the choice of taking their children with them when they are deported. I think they are negligent parents if they do not choose to take their minor children with them - I would never leave my minor children in such a situation. I would take them with me and, the law being what it presently is, they could return to the USA of their own free will when they come of adult age.

I believe that the kids go with the parents. It happens all the time. I sure would take my kid with me, if I were going to a different country. It is not our fault, the parents knew what they were doing when they put the child in that position.
I actually have a somewhat open mind to amnesty once the leak in the dam is plugged. However, manipulative questions about 'the children' drown out the voice of reason for me. What the Devil were those parents thinking to use their children like that! |

You're talking about 'anchor babies' etc....I don't know, but at some point, the BS has to stop. They're going to have to pass a law that grandfathers in the people that are in our country right now, but crack down like God himself in the future on this immigration garbage. Bum's rush immigration policy isn't going to cut it, and at some point they're going to have to pick a day, and say NO MORE....or, our economy will go out-of-balance, as boomers leave the work-force, and are not replaced by high-skilled people, leaving a lot of 'sandwich fabricators', 'hydro-ceramic-sanitation technologists', 'interior hygiene specialists'
'waste management engineers', etc etc etc. How many telephone hygienists does america need? That's 1/3 step up from volunteer 'driving safety vision defenders', AKA the guy standing on the street corner with a dirty diaper offering to 'clean your windshield'...in short, the country's going to go to **** unless we pull the plug on free-for-all immigration. In a world of 6.5 billion people, it's time to update our national policies in that department, and I don't care how many hispanic/etc. advocates don't like the spectre of the USA not being their personal/national welfare piggy-bank...this country gives out BILLIONS annually, and with little apparent effect, because the same clowns are back, year after year, with their hands out, and demands for this, demands for that etc. Mexico needs to stand up and do some personal hygiene, there. And, we need to get our border fence/wall/barrier/token gesture thingy built, too. |

We have the stupidest laws when it comes to dealing with immigration, and this last round of debates through congress just shows that the American people are no longer of chief concern to the politicians. We are all serfs, we should start calling all our congressmen "lords". |

What happen? the race card is not working so now you are using children as a barrier?the way many of these kids were born here was illegaly done.pregnant mexican women came across the border for the sole purpose of having a child born here and the bills paid by US taxpayers,along with that they are now claiming welfare for those kids and the illegal mother living for free.mexicans are very proud of mexico but in reality mexico is just a dead beat dad that is sending their problems to the US |

I think the law should be changed. If you're here illegally and have a baby, the baby shouldn't be made a citizen.
Lots of illegals come here JUST to have a baby born in the USA so they can make the same argument you are making: "what about the children!" It's just an excuse, exploiting their own kids that way. |

This anchor baby law is a bad law. Illegals intentionally breed over here or come over here pregnant to mooch more off of the American public even more than they already do. This law definitely needs to be changed. The parents as well as their anchor babies should be deported yesterday. |

I think it is bull that illegals are coming into my country and popping out kids in the hope that they can stay here. I see these families who keep popping out the kids but can not afford to feed them. It is not fair that MY MONIES have to feed those kids through entitlement programs. Take those kids back to where you came from and get a freakin job there. Let YOUR HOME COUNTRY support you...NOT US. |

The original intent of the 14th amendment was to give freed slaves citizenship, not to give these illegal invaders a free path to citizenship. The 14th amendment is being abused. It also says about jurisdiction, and that meant back then that the parents were citizens. |

I say deport them all. It sure as hell is not my fault or our country's responsibility to support them. They knew they were breaking our laws when they came here, so I for one DO NOT feel sorry for their kids. |

I strongly disagree as someone going thru an experience like this I am a us citizen and my boyfriend is not he was deported about a yr ago and we have a 17 mth old daughter together and it's not because he wanted a baby to stay here he's been here since he was 4 his mother never made him a citizen and he never did himself and now he faces the consequences to those actions by being deported it's not fair my daughter has to grow up without her father here with her because of a couple misdemeanor charges he had that where nothing but a slap on the wrist ... So until you r in those shoes u shouldn't even begin to imagine what it feels like it's the worst feeling in the world having to explain over a phone call that your baby took her first steps and said her first word all because of some backwards laws so if a child is born here they belong here and we have alot of resources we take for granted here in the USA when other countries have it far worse |
