What's funny about what you said is there are a few people on here that claim to be liberals who have the harshest words when answering questions regarding "immigration" questions...so yeah, it's real funny how they think...
If your reasoning for being against illegal immigration is because you think they are all people from (only) Mexico...you may be a RACIST.
If your reasoning for being against illegal immigrants is because you can no longer tolerate the sound of people speaking Spanish...you may be a RACIST.

Being against illegal immigration does not make you a racist; stereotyping illegals into one ethic group and dehumanizing that group does. Most of the people who write the posts against illegals use language that insults and targets Hispanics. That would be considered racist; I saw the news last night and Congress is going to grant amnesty again which means that we won't have anymore illegals, then anyone who singles out a particular ethnic group will be exposed as bonafide racists.

To witness those "stories of hardship" occuring again is sad-somehow I think our country's heart and soul has changed for the worse -and as I read the negativity around the immigration issue-I acknowledge we need change/but these people are not all criminals-they are decent people-most of them.

And what makes most people racist when they are against illegal immigration is they make stupid racist statements like one previous to mine that says that they are "MEXICAN." They stereotype all illegal immigrants as "MEXICANS" when a lot of illegal immigrants are ASIAN, BLACK, AND WHITE. Dumb@ss Racists. So then what happens is when people who are LEGAL immigrants and they are hispanic, they get pulled over on the road every 30 minutes and they are ignored in check out lines... because everyone thinks they are ILLEGAL. it doesnt make you racist. being against illegal immigration is fine. They should enter our country the legal way and have to live like the rest of us. They want to have an american job but still have the perks of being mexican. They steal our work, waste our tax dollars, and dont even speak our language.

The race card is one of the easiest ways for people to win an argument. Lets face it White Americans are terrified of being called racists so to avoid that they just turn a blind eye on certain issues. Like this one for example. Its not really a subject you can talk of casually and you have to be really really careful with your words because people will use the race card like it gave them an orgasm.

It doesn't make a person a racist. It has been my experience that when someone leads out with the race card, they don't have any other cards to play that will trump your hand. Calling someone a racist, in our present day society, is the best way to silence a voice of reason. I have many friends from China and Vietnam and they spend years jumping through all the hoops to get their loved ones in the country legally. Why should we just turn our heads and remain silent when confronted with millions who cross our southern border with impunity and sneer at our laws until they need the protection of the Constitution? Some people simply cannot accept the fact that the outrage is directed against the act, not the actors.

being someone who once protested for them, and recently changed my mind completly, I feel first and for most people who came many years ago 20+ years came here to actually work and make a life for themselves and most did and became legal within the first year of being here, but now its like they come to do nothing and the government lets them because they are to afraid to be called racist, I am an American with hispanic heritage and boy I hate it it feels like an invasion you cant go anywhere now if you look hispanic they talk to you spanish even if you want to speak english and if you speak english to them they get mad and tell you to stop kiddin yourself you a latina ewgh it makes me so mad!!!

Now with that I dont mean they shouldn't speak spanish or any other language besides english, BUT they should learn english and not think that the laws of this country should be accomodating to them, being here illegaly is a crime and if they are cought then they should be sent back especially if they dont pay taxes, take welfare and do not work, I am not saying all of them are like that because there are some really hard working people that come herer illegaly that could never do so legally.

Being hispanic I get it from both sides, the ignorant people whom asume that all hispanics are illegal, I get treated differently, and my hispanic comunity treats me different becasue I ask them to learn english get off welfare and do something with their lives, and as for the racist part of it its a though call.

I've been wondering the same thing for a long time. I guess when you are doing something illegal and you can't figure out a way to justify it, you attack the people who are against you. I really don't care what the illegals think of me. At least I don't have to constantly worry about someone knocking on my door and taking me and my children away and putting me in prison or taking me back where I came from. I have every right to be here and say whatever I think. The illegals have no rights at all, especially the right to live and work in this country.

Honestly in today's society I have no idea. I mean there is a reason that the word illegal is in front of immigration, right?

It is the typical racist tirade. What's wrong with not wanting 25 million illegals in the U.S. They take our jobs, use our resources including oil. As taxpayers, we have to pay for their free housing, free healthcare, free food stamps, and free education. Why do I want to pay for this for lawbreakers? We should be helping people born here that need help not these illegal aliens. Build the fence and kick them back over the fence.
