Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Wednesday ordered a review of a raid at an engine plant in Washington State that resulted in the arrests of 28 people suspected of being illegal immigrants.

A high-level official in the Department of Homeland Security said that Ms. Napolitano had not been informed about the raid on Tuesday before it happened, and that she was seeking details about its planning and scope.

“She was not happy about it because it’s inconsistent with her position, and the president’s position on these matters,” said the official, who agreed to discuss the matter on condition of anonymity because the secretary had not authorized the conversation.
You can be sure the taxpayer-funded National Council of Raza will use all the earmark money it will be receiving to lobby aggressively for comprehensive shamnesty:

The National Council of La Raza urged supporters to call the White House and demand Mr. Obama lay out his immigration policy, while the National Immigration Forum said the raid was an unwelcome continuation of Bush administration policies.

“What are Latino and immigrant voters to think? They turn out in massive numbers and vote for change and yet ‘change we can believe in’ turns out to be ‘business as usual,’ ” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the forum.

He called for a halt to the raids while Homeland Security conducts its review of immigration policies.
As for the poor, innocent workers nabbed in the raid, guess what? The raid was the result of a gang investigation:

“Information derived from two gang members previously arrested in an ICE gang operation led to the initiation of the work-site investigation at Yamato Engine Specialists,” said press secretary Kelly Nantel. “Follow-up investigation uncovered a potentially large number of illegally employed workers. ICE conducted the operation in order to identify and if appropriate, apprehend any unauthorized workers and to further determine potential criminal activity.”

My opinion is the following. What you posted sounds different from the real news, like the Chief said.
To summarize the news already posted by Chief, it says that the position of Napolitano AND President Obama is inconsistent with the way that raid took place.
Second, it seems that also the website is biased against those immigrants. You can see that when you see the page, it is only obsessed about illegal immigration and apparently done to incite hate. Looks like a website from supremacy groups because is only stand on one side, and that is a clue for people not to trust that kind of information. Many antis love to go to those websites because they only told them what they want to hear and they don't accept other opinions. When you tell them something different they don't want to accept it.
Also, the article posted by Stone shows that the policies from Obama regarding immigration are consistent with a more humane treatment against illegals, he wants to deal with the immigration issue in a more respectful manner because that is what a REFORM is about. People can't go and do raids that are not authorized just because they want to do it, that is not the position of the president or Napolitano.
And I guess that SOME antis need to understand what is a reform. Its not about killing, or rounding or deporting in an inhumane way. That is not the solution, but for simplistic minds who think that those matters have to be dealt in that way, that is the only solution they have. Those simplistic mind are the ones trying to spread propaganda coming on daily basis posting hate thinki8ng that will work, and that is what the antis need to learn. Things are not resolved that way or they continue with anger. Workplace raids involving the arrests of hundreds of illegal immigrants at a time became almost routine in the last years of the Bush administration, but Napolitano's response to Tuesday's raid at a Bellingham, Wash., manufacturing plant highlighted the Obama administration's much different approach to a hot-button issue.
Napolitano told lawmakers during a hearing in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday that she did not know about the raid before it happened and was briefed on it early Wednesday morning. She has asked U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which arrested 28 illegal immigrants in the raid, for answers.
"I want to get to the bottom of this as well," she said. She said work-site enforcement needs to be focused on the employers.
In a statement, an ICE official said the agency conducted the raid after information from two "gang members" led agents to start an investigation at the company.
"Follow-up investigation uncovered a potentially large number of illegally employed workers. ICE conducted the operation in order to identify and, if appropriate, apprehend any unauthorized workers and to further determine potential criminal activity," ICE spokeswoman Kelly Nantel said in an e-mail from Washington, D.C.
The raid at Yamato Engine Specialists was the first work-site action ICE has taken since Obama took office, said Sean Smith, a spokesman at Homeland Security in Washington, D.C.
Obama, who appointed Napolitano, has signaled a shift in immigration policy that would rely less on work-site enforcement, focusing instead on employers who hire illegal immigrants and on overall immigration reform.
ICE agents rounded up 25 men and three women at the engine shop, all Mexicans except for a Honduran, a Salvadoran and a Guatemalan. Except for three people freed on humanitarian grounds, those arrested are at a detention center in Tacoma, awaiting deportation proceedings.
In a statement Tuesday, ICE officials said many of the people obtained the jobs using fake Social Security numbers and other counterfeit documents.
Shirin Dhanani Makalai, whose family owns the business, said the raid came after months of cooperating with ICE on an audit, which included providing employee rosters to federal authorities on several occasions. She said the family-owned business does not advocate hiring illegal immigrants.
"We try to stay within the guidelines, within the law," Makalai said Tuesday.
Makalai added that the company did not knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and that employers have no clear way of checking an employee's legal status. Tuesday's raid marked the second time ICE had taken workers from the factory, but Makalai said that after an audit in 2006, agents conducted individual interviews, instead of a raid.
She said that family members - who are originally from Uganda - estimate about 60 agents came into the sprawling factory and asked management to round up the workers. She said the business is losing about $60,000 a day and lost four highly skilled workers.
"We were completely blind-sided," Makalai said.
For immigrant advocacy groups, the raid was a surprise as well.
Marissa Graciosa of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group, said it was deeply disappointing that ICE has executed a raid since Obama took office. She called the raids destructive and ineffective.
"We urge President Obama to deliver on his promise of change by stopping the raids, and signing just and humane immigration reform into law," Graciosa said.
Immigrant advocates in Seattle called on Obama to place a moratorium on raids until there's immigration reform from Congress.
Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, which favors stricter enforcement of immigration laws, said Napolitano's call to review the raid goes along with an expectation that Obama will slash work-site raids. Camarota said such raids should be part of an overall immigration policy.
