You need 3 years in the US as a legal permanent resident if you are married and living with a US citizen or 5 years if you are not married to a US citizen before you can apply for US citizenship. Then you apply via the USCIS website which has all the direction for you.

Please ignore his posting, if you have been here for 10 years of course you don't have to wait but I strongly suspect that is not what you are saying , he thinks when you said you have a 10 year greencard that means you have been 10 years in the country already, I know that you mean your greencard is valid for 10 years not that you have been here for 10 years. Its a common misconception that greencards can't have an expiry date, mine was valid for 10 years as well before I got my US citizenship. Pay attention Joey ! |

You are qualified for citizenship after 5 years (3years marring us citizen).
Assuming, you do not have any felony conviction (s). Go to INS web page or visit to local INS office and get proper application forms. |

If you have had a green card for 10 years, just file the N400 (on the USCIS website) and pay the fee. After fingerprints, background check, they will call you in for an interview - test your knowledge of US history, establish you can read, write and understand English, and that is about it. The 3 years and 5 years some of the others are referring to, relates to the time you need to have a green card before applying - 3 if you have been married to US citizen, 5 if not - but if you have 10 years, knock yourself out. |

Don't listen too these morons. You can go and apply at www.uscis.gov. You don't have to wait for anything. you have more then 5 years. They just want to miss lead you so that you won't be able to vote on 2012. Pass favor.
