How do i change my last name?

I became a permanent resident through my husband. All my INS forms have my maiden name. my question is how do i change my last name to my hubbys? Do I have to go through the INS office or just go to the social security office and just do it?
I've been trying to contact the INS hotline but i get no answer from them at all. What steps should i take.

If you have an I-91 card (green card) your name needs to be the same as is on the card. While you can go to Probate Court and change your name, you will need to update your I-91 with the Department of Homeland Security (formerly INS), which can take several months AFTER you've changed your name and gotten an appointment with them. THEN you can change your name with SSA.
