How do we educate the factually challenged?

The whiners are at it again in Arizona claiming that Sheriff Joe's raids in heavily hispanic neighborhoods are "racial profiling". This proves their total ignorance in the meaning of the word race.
Fact #1 Being Mexican/Latino/Hispanic doesn't qualify as a race, at best it's an ethnicity or nationality.
Fact #2 Arizona like California and Texas suffers from large population of ILLEGAL ALIENS who are primarily from Mexico and points south. So where should one go about looking for illegals of this type, in predominately black or asian neighborhoods? Come on folks if you have a leaky water pipe you don't check the electrical wiring now do you? Additional Details ROFLMAO Tony,
NIce none answer as usual. Obviously you don't know the difference between race and ethicity either but then again I'm not suprised.

Oh those poor babies. How about he is criminal profiling, they aren't hard to spot out! I wish there were millions more like Sheriff JOe! |

we can educate the factually challenged by providing the general public with facts. However, no matter how many times you tell some people that you cant see race at midnight while the person is driving a car, or that Hispanic is not a race, people will always feel slighted because they feel they have a right.
the public only accept what they want to believe |

I have to say this....You put it perfectly with the leaky pipe analogy!
Racial profiling-what a crock. Yes, if you want to find a bunch of illegals you go to a predominantly mexican neighborhood. ...Or you go to the politicians that have hired nannies, yardmen, babysitters, etc. You look for drug dealers in druggie neighborhoods.
Racial profiling works, that's why liberals, bleeding hearts and ethnic groups don't want you to do it.

I doubt if you can:
As the saying goes:
Never try to teach a pig to sing
All you do is waste your time
and annoy the pig!
The misinformation just spews out of them
Take MCSO for example
One of the highest case clearance rates in the US.
None of those cases are illegal immigration.
Why such a high rate? Because they arrest the criminals that commit those crimes! I don't care if they arrest a child molester as an illegal alien and then charge him with child molestation as long as he goes to jail.
Or taco vendors start killing people and making them sick due to improper food handling and the factually challenged want MSCO to go after the hot dog vendors who haven't made anyone sick! I guess they think killing a few people is OK as long as MCSO doesn't "racially profile" them!
We have tried to tell them criminal is not a race but...
And the ever popular MCSO response times to emergency calls increased. They cite Phoenix as the example. Phoenix has a police department! What do they think the Phoenix police are suppose to do? That's their job not MCSO's job!
I could go on but... |

I agree with you totally people want to cry race when it really is about being here legally.I wish we had a JOE like him here in Texas.These people have bankrupt the Welfare system here and as a nurse I know this for a fact.Hospitals,Dr's and others in the medical field isn't getting payed because of these people,So I think we need to deport them at whatever cost.Lets bring our people home from Iraq to patrol our borders because if you ask me these people that are crossing our borders are more of a threat to us then someone over seas right now.And to prove it just look at our economy and this is no thinks to us housing,feeding and giving health care to those that shouldn't have a right to it. |

How you plan to educate the "factually challenged" when you are asking how to educate is beyond me.
Race and ethnicity share the common idea of ancestry, yet they are different in several ways. Race is primarily a single name or at least before the times of being politically correct. It used to be that a person consisted of only one race, although in the current times many people can and do claim multiple ethnic affiliations.
Ethnically I can be Mexican - American but visually I am only one of the two. I have no say in what I race am nor can I make other see me any different than what they see me for.
Let's say as a child I am adopted to a couple from China. As a child I go there to live I learn to read and write in Chinese, eat Chinese foods and celebrate all the traditional Chinese holidays and customs. I know nothing of being a Mexican.
After my eighteenth birthday I come to America, tell me what race will I be seen as? No matter how much I plea my Chinese upbringing I would still be seen as a Mexican.
Ethnically I can feel and in my heart be a Chinese but socially I must defend that self view. I noticed that you did not give any of your knowledge of what the differences between the two are.
I too am not surprised that if (seems to me of you) had a pipe leaking water you would take the easiest repair with the worst solution, you would simply shut off all the water. Now you are content that water is no longer leaking but in the coming days you can not drink, bath, flush or make a simple pot of soup to eat.
Would I check the electric wiring well I have seen many tubs leak into the ceiling and into the downstairs light fixtures so it is possible that it is something I would not rule out right away without first doing some additional probing that may make the repair more acceptable and safer for now and in the long run.
So now I have had my say, Thank you. Yet I would still like it if you would broaden my education.
You are just going to have to trust me on this one, Mr Lincoln never "toss em across the border" in fact he wrote "The Lincoln's 'Spot' Resolution" in parts below.
"First: Whether the spot of soil on which the blood of our citizens was shed, as in his messages declared, was, or was not, within the teritories of Spain, at least from the treaty of 1819 until the Mexican revolution
Second: Whether that spot is, or is not, within the teritory which was wrested from Spain, by the Mexican revolution.
Third: Whether that spot is, or is not, within a settlement of people, which settlement had existed ever since long before the Texas revolution, until it's inhabitants fled from the approach of the U. S. Army.
Fourth: Whether that settlement is, or is not, isolated from any and all other settlements, by the Gulf of Mexico, and the Rio Grande, on the South and West, and by wise uninhabited regions on the North and East.
Fifth: Whether the People of that settlement, or a majority of them, or any of them, had ever, previous to the bloodshed, mentioned in his messages, submitted themselves to the government or laws of Texas, or of the United States, by consent, or by compulsion, either by accepting office, or voting at elections, or paying taxes, or serving on juries, or having process served upon them, or in any other way.
Sixth: Whether the People of that settlement, did, or did not, flee from the approach of the United States Army, leaving unprotected their homes and their growing crops, before the blood was shed, as in his messages stated and whether the first blood so shed, was, or was not shed, within the inclosure of the People, or some of them, who had thus fled from it.
Seventh: Whether our citizens, whose blood was shed, as in his message declared, were, or were not, at that time armed officers, and soldiers, sent into that settlement, by the military order of the President through the Secretary of War -- and
Eighth Whether the military force of the United States, including those citizens, was, or was not, so sent into that settlement, after Genl. Taylor had, more than once, intimated to the War Department that, in his opinion, no such movement was necessary to the defence or protection of Texas.

I am willing to debate the highest case clearance rates of the MCSO if you are willing to post it as another question.
Also I have read some of your health advise I am not saying you are not a nurse but I will say some of your answer leave me scared of the nursing profession.

We don't. We adopt the tactics that Lincoln used in the civil war. We round them all up and toss em across the border. If Americans support illegals, you confiscate all their stuff and force move them to Mexico to be with the ones they support. |

Easy! give them the facts.
It's not only Joe Arpaio's immigration tactics why people are so against him now, it's how he's put Maricopa Counties Residents at risk of the real life threatening calls by increasing his deputy's response times because he'd rather them chasing down dishwashers instead of violent criminals. And his cost to do this so-called "crime sweep" has soared.
Your Fact#1: People always use this excuse, especially when they want to get away with calling them names or hating them, and not be considered a Racist.
Your Fact#2: When Joe Apraio started his immgration sweeps, he considererd them "Crime Supression sweeps" and told the public that he was looking for criminals, and when he raided the taco vendors, he said he was looking for valid vendor permits. And what's funny about that is that Phoenix has Hot Dog vendors througout the city, but did her ever visit them...NO!
And what else is funny is that he must be behind them taking down the site joesgottogo.com. He didn't want everybody reading the truth!
Here's some good facts for the "factually challenged".
http://immigrationpolicy.org/images/File/factcheck/SheriffJoeArpaio12-17-08.pdf
The High Price of Being “America’s Toughest Sheriff”
Crime and Spending Soar in Maricopa County
In July 2008, the East Valley Tribune of metro-Phoenix ran a series of articles chronicling its investigation of the immigration-enforcement activities of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). The Tribune found:
• Sheriff Arpaio’s immigration-enforcement crusade has resulted in a huge budget deficit for Maricopa County;
• His tactics include large-scale neighborhood sweeps and traffic stops for minor violations as a means to arrest immigrants;
• He has failed to arrest top smugglers and criminals (and, instead, swept up nearly 600 undocumented immigrants on charges of smuggling themselves);
• MCSO response times to emergency calls increased;
• MCSO arrest rates for non-immigration crimes dropped;
• MCSO crimes were left un-investigated. |

We have to patiently give people the real truth and not the babble they hear from our liberal, open borders media.
We have to let the nice folks who feel badly for the illegals know the true cost to them and our country. We have to let them know the majority of illegals are not that badly off when compared to the 3-4 BILLION desperately poor people in this world. We have to let them know that even if we were stupid enough to ruin this country and take in 20 million poor a year it would have NO effect on the worlds overpopulation of desperately poor people.
We are suffering as a country right now. Record unemployment, the market is crashing and we have a bleak future. We need to do what any family would do in that same situation - hunker down, spend wisely, stop reproducing and protect our own family (country) FIRST!!!! |

Law enforcement goes where the crime is. They are going to patrol areas with higher crime and, of course, make more stops and arrests.
Racial profiling is the only tool they have to use. It is the most effective.
Untrue, but effective. There is also "inhumane" or "we are humans too"
None of these have anything to do with illegal aliens breaking our immigration laws, but they are going to go with what works best for them. Until officials put an end to this nonsense, it will continue. They don't want the US to look bad to the rest of the world.
How enforcing our immigration laws looks bad I haven't figured out yet. |

Just as they don't understand the demographics in areas of escalating crime, they would rather let the Islamic guy w/ beads of sweat on his forehead and a stiff walk through security check points in an attempt to be PC -- indiscriminate and make sure we're not racially profiling.
