When a political opponent has no reasonable or valid argument against you they resort to calling out names that stick - the media helps them to make it stick. They have successfully labeled all of us that oppose illegal immigration as racist; its sad but its their best weapon...after all there is no logical argument to the debate that illegal actions should be rewarded. |

Now there's nothing wrong with you wanting the laws enforced, now if your ppl are of European descent(hypothetically speaking!) then your ppl came hear to escape the hardships of there country now if your from African descent then you were brought over here unwillingly. But just because your over here now doesn't make it right if you sit there and say they can't come over here after all none of are ppl belong over here if anything we're immigrants to. |

You have a fair point. The problem, I believe, is that saying you are against ILLEGAL immigration is like saying you are against drunk driving. EVERYONE agrees. So why do people like you insist on talking so vehemently and so frequently about how appalled you are at ILLEGAL immigration? Since there's no point in belaboring a point with which EVERYONE agrees, it must be because you have a craw up your tail about immigration, legal or otherwise - because face it, there are much, much bigger problems facing this country than immigration, even if it's just illegal immigration that you want to dwell on. |

All I have to say is that you have the most sense of anyone I've heard in a long time. I agree with everything your saying. I don't mind if people immigrate to this country, but there's a difference between immigrating and sneaking in. Why not do it the legal way? |

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:
Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;
has committed a federal crime.
Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense. |

Because it is a very sensitive issue. It doesn't matter "to whom" you are referring. It is automatically assumed that you are referring to Mexicans because they are central to the issue. You may want to be a little low key about your sentiments or voice them in a different arena. |

I don't think you are a racist because you want the laws upheld. I think all illegals should be sent back to the country of their birth. I don't care what country they are from, if they are not legal, they don't belong here.
I'm tired of my tax money being used for many things that I disagree with but especially for illegals who often work and get paid in cash more than I make but still live off my tax donation. |

Because this is their self defense. When they have nothing else to say in their own defense they accuse the opponent or in this case YOU, a person whose opinion defers from theirs, of doing something bad or wrong, because there is no other way for them to rationalize their behavior or negative feelings they have in regards to what you have to say. Just ignore them and do not waste your time. I was not born here but I am a citizen and have not spent a single day as an illegal immigrant and I am also against illegal immigration. We have to regard the laws of the country we live in, it has nothing to do with racism or ignorance. As long as you do not point finger and say that you want people of certain nationality out of your country but against illegal immigration altogether - no one can accuse you of racism. And for those who called you ignorant I would suggest to look up that word in a dictionary, because obviously they don't know what it really means. |

If people call you a racist , they're just being ignorant. Ignorance stems from people adhering to their views and not bothering to check the other side's point of view (have you checked the other side's point of view by the way?). That being said, many people who oppose illegal immigration seem to be racist. I'm not saying they are, but that's the view that the media seems to be putting forward, specially when they interview those Minute Men clowns.
As for us, Canadians, we really don't need to immigrate to the US. Canada has a great economy (strong currency, low deficits, pretty much no debt) and a great society (Universal Health Care, low crime, tolerant and diverse). You'd have to be crazy to leave (unless you have too for family reasons or something). |
