How hard will it be to get a visa to work for 1 year (as a student placement) in either Canada or Australia?

I am an Accounting student in the UK. I want to do my placement as an Accounts Clerk or similar in either Vancouver (1st choice) or Sydney (2nd choice). I am wondering if I will have any visa issues, how you get one, what the conditions are etc?
I have no convictions, never been arrested, will be able to prove I intend to return home (registered at uni and need to do final year).

As far as Australia/Sydney is concerned, if you're a UK citizen, you will be able to come on a 12 month Working Holiday visa which will be easy and inexpensive to get. That is the only available visa that will allow you to work and the only restriction is that you are not allowed to work for any given employer for longer than 6 months.

you can try for canada - BUT you may not be able to work without re-learning canadian tax laws, etc. Also there are LOTS of accountants and bookkeepers already in Canada.
