How hard would it be for a British qualified accountant to emmigrate to the US or Canada?

I am not qualified yet, but when I am how hard would it be for me to get a job offer and emmigrate?
I would probably want to go somewhere like Oregon, definately on the west coast, so would be needing to get a job there.

Would it be hard? I will be working in a respected profession and I have no criminal convictions or serious illnesses or anything like that. I will be wanting to go when I am 30 which is not for another 5 years. I want to gain experience here first and build up a bit of equity in my flat.

best bet would be to start looking at world wide companies to sponsor you, with a good trade you have a fair chance. You MUST make sure that your employers give you all singing all dancing medical, being with out full medical is NOT an option here in the USA

I know several accountants from European countries currently working in the US. All of them were transferred over by their employers in Europe - companies like Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Price Waterhouse Coopers, etc

So your best bet is to try and get a job with one of the Big 4 accountancies in the UK, work a few years and rise up in the ranks, then apply for a position in the US with them.
