How long can someone visit in the States? leave?

When i move to the States my mother will not qualify as a dependent, so how long can she legally visit before having to return to Canada?

When she come through immigration and custom her 1-94 will be stamped with the time period she is allow to stay..Really it depend on the immigration officer that she meet. Some stamp 1 mth but the most I have ever heard about is 6 mth. She can then apply to extend that period that is stamped on the 1-94 but it is relatively expensive.

The time period is made by the officer at her POE and thus the length is completely dependent upon their decision at the time of her arrival.

As long as her visa allows there are time frames on the visa she was issued
