How long has your family been in America?

If you are American, how long ago did your ancestors first come here? My great-grandpa moved here in 1912, and my other great-grandpa came here in the 1920's. what about your family?

My Grandparents came in the early 1900s from Italy and LEGALLY. If you want to know the boat your ancestors came on, go to

It's fun but your ancesters had to come through Ellis Island. This does not work for illegals.

My Mother's family came here in 1621 from England, there was the husband, a wife & 1 child. I have the name of the ship somewhere. My cousin went to England several years ago to continue the family tree & he found the information.
My Father's family came from Scotland because they were Catholic & they were forbidden to practice their faith, sometime during the late 1600's.

I really don't know, but since my dad was born in 1920, I am guessing in the 1800's.

thanks for asking. people love to talk about their family history if asked.

My paternal family's root is old Virginia and North Carolina all the way back from Scotland and England pre revolutionary war. My great great grandmother was Comanche. Our branch of the family moved to Texas from Tennessee from NC and VA before TX statehood (1845).

Maternal includes president Tyler. There is Cherokee in her tree too, but uncertain of dates. Just need more research, but for many (actual) native americans there are few records and they changed their names so are hard to track birth records.

So, some of my ancestors have been here for thousands of years. I have about 1/8 or more from traces of NA on paternal and maternal trees. not much, but enough to claim my blood.

That really has nothing to do with the problems that are taking place now days. The immigrates and our ancestors, up to about 70 years ago applied for citizenship, learned the English language, if they couldn't read, write, understand to found their way of life in the United States. I would say it was a wonderful beginning to make the United States strong with all the different backgrounds, that is not the case in the United States now. More and more people are becoming citizens without having to learn the English language to be able to communicate with the people in the United States. When is it no longer going to be excepted that these people coming to the United States don't need to learn the language of the land, and we have to except that?. Without any pressure they get into what I call the comfort zones, living where everyone speaks the same language, working where they don't have to learn English, yet are able to get our government and states to make changes to meet their needs. Alot of people that were our relatives fit into that category at one time, but didn't wait long to find their own ways to live in comfort without a burden on the people of their new home country..You can't even compare our ancestors to what we are faced with in the United States today. Those people gave their blood, sweat, and tears to make this country what it became back then.
